    Starter rollers

Been looking for a set of rollers that can be used to start my bike at track and got a hell of a fright when I had a gander at trademe and ebay. While I'm sure the workmanship and quality of the products are fabulous, $1800.00 is just not funny.

Anyone know of any (cheaper) alternatives??

They'd do the job as well.

    Yep, build your own.
I got a 24v mitsubishi starter motor off trademe for $75, picked up some conveyor rollers and side plates, a few sprockets, some chain etc and got it pretty much sorted in a couple of days for under $500.
The 24V is a bit of over kill, but it'll start anything, and isn't too heavy for one person.

    Photobucket

I've added a cover over the chains / starter motor, some non slip rubber on the rollers (would knurl them if I did it again) and a coat of black paint since the photo.

I've seen something similar. Looks like a good, cheap way to do it. Especially with a bike that uses tyre warmers cos you're always going to have a 240v power source handy.

If you don't mind the odd hospital visit, you could try building one of these. Probably pay to wear a mouthguard too
