Im looking at turboing a 500cc twin. Is there a common small car oout there that would have a suitable unit?

Retired- just some guy with a few bikes......
td06 do it faggot.
I was thinking about this the other week. Those new eco boost ford engines must have pretty small turbos. They're usually around 1L turbo. You could find one at a wreckers somewhere
Supercharger i reckon...early MR2 Toyota would be a good option.
Be the person your dog thinks you are...
The smallest turbos were on the Kei 660cc claas clars Dithatsu mira etc.
plenty of stuff about them on the net ihi rhb31 there is a small mitzi one used on Kubota lawn tractors

there was also the small rootes blower used as in this.

Aisin amr300 they do a A 500cc one as well

120mm high 200mm long 105mm wide at body.
"Although fitted by Subaru, the blower is manufactured by Aisin and is coded AMR300. This code suggests it displaces 300cc of induction air per revolution."
hand full of 650 bikes had turbos from factory in the 80's. get one off a fucked bike?
What about these.

IHI RHB3/31 from the smaller triple turbo Jappas (also known as VZ21 etc)
Garrett GT15 series are mad little things
There are several versions of the Mitsi TD04 and TD03 that are tiny, also similar to TD0 series but used on their smaller diesels.
The KKK K03 and K03s
Toyota CT9/9A and CT12/12A (old shit though and love to crack exh housings)
The trusty old VF series and VJ series (VJ6 etc)
There is plenty of choice
If you do your research like a boss you can find very small VGT turbos, which are the shizz and usually found on fairly modern small diesel motors (really small...)
The Toyota SC series superchargers are inefficient puss.
The AMR300/500 are pretty sweet units.
Rotrex and other similar flavour blowers would be ideal for a bike application due to fairly low load to drive them (chur for planetary gear set ups)
The best thing to do is learn yourself how to read boost maps and select something that suits your own application
yeah not just for softcore porn either ... I hope...........
I have posted a fair bit of stuff here
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...have-a-real-go
if you are going carb route look up pitot tube
a lot of the links no longer work but there is some good stuffs still here inc the rising rate reg etc.
Have you sat down and had a serious think about how much this is going to cost you? Get a ballpark figure, double it, then double it again for the actual cost.
Im up to 11k on my build and have hit a budget block, which is arse.
Personally I would put a TD04 or VF22 on it as they are easy to comeby due to them being upgraded from the cars they were fitted in stock.
Anything ballbearing will work fine as long as its not huge.
Heres my turbo
Primary turbo off an older Twin Turbo Legacy? Easy to find, although seem to fail a lot.
Ciao Marco
But a VF22 would struggle to push boost on a thou below 5000rpm they're ideal on a smallish car (1600+ if it flows very nice)
Ball bearing only improves response by around 5%
VF numbers are strange
VF25 was the early TT primary turbo, most have exploded now
VF33 was later
If I recall correctly, or that may just be BH Legacy, not BG shape
What are you looking for? More power or a project? If you simply want more power then you might want to rethink your bike choose.
Or maybe this is what you are looking for: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-...989206395.html
You may also find a cheap turbo on aliexpress.. They sell almost everything :-)
