Three favourites? Hmm, what are they today?

    The Pogues
    Fleetwood Mac
Spider Murphy Gang (Bavarian Rock Band)

Tomorrow it may well be different. Could just as easily be Boney M, Unit Four Plus Two and ELO. Or The Beach Boys, The Waitresses and The Who.

Or any one of hundreds of solo artists and a fair few orchestras.

Even in the genres I "hate" ([C]rap, Jazz, Country and Western) there are some songs I like.

50's, 60's 70's, 80's, medieval dance, Classical music, Swing (esp. Glen Miller and the "Big Band" style), Heavy Metal, Punk, Rock 'n' Roll, New Wave - I like all sorts of stuff.

My "favourites" depend very much on what I feel like at the moment - unless you go by a "which bands have the most songs you like?" metric which would put Beatles and Bee Gees in the top two (even though I don't always feel in the mood for either.)

    REM

Hard to narrow it down to three, I also like the Russell Morris Band, INXS, Credence Clearwater Revival, Cream, the Hollies - okay, so I'm old!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

dam I saw 'mumsdollar' in this thread - what is the obsession?

Anywho, I'm doing one band per genre - trust me this is hard.

    Blues:
    Eric Clapton

    Instrumental:
Tommy Emmanuel - this guy is a weapon on a guitar.

    Hard Rock:
    Gunners

    Mellowy psycadelic stuff:
    Floyd

    Mexican:
Chingon! - this is the band that did the most of music on Kill Bill 2. www.chingonmusic.com

    Old stuff:
    Sinatra

And Hendrix, Van Halen and Led Zep are a given.
I dont know where dire straits would fit tho - Im real bad with the genre things.

I guess Im in the same sorta boat as Froggy - im only 1year his senior!

With you on that. I don't like all the songs of any band, there are some that have more songs that I like than others, but I'm more interested in the songs than the band per se. A lot of bands have been listed on this thread and I'm going, "mmmm, uh huh, yep" as I have songs/music by most of them - some more than others.

Some bands like the Beatles, Bee Gees, Spider Murphy Gang, Fleetwood Mac, Credence Clearwater Revival, ELO, Pogues, Mi-Sex, Hello Sailor, Beach Boys, Queen and others have a lot of songs I like.

Some like Blue Oyster Cult I have a couple of songs I like but I haven't heard many of their songs anyway - I may well like more if I heard them.

Others I don't generally like the songs a group or artist sings but one or two I do like.

Pap for the undiscerning masses. As it's always been. There is some excellent new stuff out there, destined to be among the classics in 10/20/30+ years.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
