Me and the guys only catches a few drips while cruising on a steady 80 kmph.
Now in Hamilton where there's more rain and less to do!
Two Honda dealers here though. See if they come up with something tomorrow

Hi Hades,
Yeah I do a lovely Youth Hostel not far from the town., thanks though!
I got a friend of mine who wants to be in the backseat for a couple of days, do you guys know a place which might rent gear and a helmet? Seeing my recent tradition of dropping the bike so now and then.

Here is a start.
WELLINGTON: Tag-o-rama
Sorry guys been a while,
Visited Peter (Away@C) when I arrived he fought it might be fuel, electrical or cooling problems.
Well apparently I had the full bingo cause all of them where pretty much screwed and its a miracle the bike got this far.
Peter fixed a whole heap of things but there's only so much you can do. Therefore he offered me to continue my journey with his Saab (awesome car)
Too bad I had to switch the two wheels for a four wheel solution, but it means I can see more of the northern island it's the right way to go.
Might have to continue my story on another forum![]()
"Might have to continue my story on another forum "
Well if you do post up a link here will ya.
Safe travels, Mo.
Couldn't find the Kiwidrivers forum looks like you guys will be stuck with me for a little longer.
Just ordered the parts needed, fingers crossed they'll arrive in time!
Oh man! What a good bastard for giving you his car! Try not to crash this one aye haha
Where are you now? Did you make it to Raglan from Hamilton? It makes it better![]()
Going to stay in Taupo for now, weather's good and camping's free
Didn't get to Raglan, wanted to get the bike in New Plymouth ASAP, I'm lucky it didn't blew up on me the way it appeared to be. Car's doing fine though lot easier travelling.
Bike wise
Previous owner must have replaced mechanical seal behind waterpump.....
he forgot a part or 2, and put a few parts in wrong place, resulting in impeller binding, and the nut coming off...
impellers teeth got stripped, so no cooling circulation for quite some time.....
this may not have done further damage because engine was running on 1 cylinder because of sparkplug cap issues.
And not revving over 5000 revs, because of previous carb mis reassembling issues.
one rubber bung missing, and one carb with primary and secondary jets reversed.
also 1 inlet manifold not sealing because rubber o ring was perished.
disappointed that bike was sold like that...
the previous owner sounded far more optimistic about bike,
but judging by the workshop invoices, he may have bee an innocent victim of poor workmanship himself.
all up not a mayor repair....just a problem because of time restraints.
parts take time to find and order.
Shame I didn't have Aprillia anymore for Paul to borrow, and unfortunately both Harley and Beemer a bit unsuitable for ticky touring....
At least all was not lost, 3 weeks of NZ summer riding in amazing weather, on a bike (bit crippled one) and 1 week in a car.
could have been better, but could have been lots worse........
enjoy![]()
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....
And all of that awesomeness woundnt be possible without you great lot!
Going to do the big "mount doom" crossing tomorrow. Again all has been fine and I'm still around Taupo for a bit. Got enough reasons to come back to NZ for sure
The parts should arrive this week just hope to see them before I have to leave.
EDIT: Parts didn't arrive when I left but it's okay.
Been back for a week now and really do miss the weather, the mountains and hills and most of all the people.
