That's patently NOT TRUE. Motorcyclists were 16 times more like to be involved in a REPORTED accident, because there is much more likely to be police/ambulance called when a motorcyclist is involved. Seeing as the vast majority of car accidents go unreported, I doubt whether there's much difference at all in accident rates between cars and motorcycles.

What the fuck is this? "Alcohol related" is not a "cause", it's a factor. Debatably the same with "excessive speed" and "road conditions". We don't know what caused many of these accidents because of these idiotic classifications.
Yeah. Half of this is made up and the other half is wrong.

How can "hit an object" be the cause of an accident FFS?

There are a few ways; come around a blind corner and there's a fallen tree, ladder on the motorway etc. Hitting either of those may lead to loss of control, and a collision/slide.

It just depends what you deem the root cause to be. Is it:
    • The tree being on the road
    • Driving or riding without being able to stop in the visible road ahead of you
    • Not paying attention
    • Just generally being useless at operating a vehicle.

In most cases "Hit an object" is the end result . Given that "road conditions" is also cited, the scenarios you have outlined could be considered road conditions, since if the road was clear there would be no object to hit.

Either way poor categorisation and bad reporting just muddies the waters preventing sound safety policies being created; and for those motorcyclists, who are interested, to adopt a riding style that reduces known risks.

Car pulls out in front of bike. Bike swerve, hits a pothole, loses traction slides into a sign.
Biker had a stubby with dinner.
    Alcohol related.

The quantitative effects of one beer on judgment let alone physical coordination are measureable. If you drink ANYTHING and ride, you're not really doing it right.

I have been known to meet people at a pub when on a ride, check out what everyone else is drinking, finish my invariably horrible coffee, and quietly fuck off early if one person has a beer.

Funny thing is you csn find test that seem to prove that reaction speed actually increases with low amounts of alcohol....I.e 1 beer.....

but drink riding an even greater nono then drink driving....both are unacceptable.

Had to explain the odd time or 6, to people climbing behind the wheel intoxicated what I would do to a drunk driver who killed/ maimed one of my loved ones....
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

I've seen results like that, but the judgment one is the big one, rather than reaction time. Being even slightly disinhibited on a bike results in riding that can leave one scratching one's head.

in the harrold today, cant find on website:

    "New Data reveals holiday dangers"
[over the holiday period] crashes rose 33 - 66% in Hawkes Bay, BOP, Northland.
crashes in auckland "more than halved" and serious harm fell 33 %
correlation = causation, when aucklanders leave auckland, they fuck up the roads everywhere else!

    reigonal licensing and aucklander culling.
