...we tried a new chilli in the glasshouse this year...Rocoto, and they are just coming into the good stage...they are beautifully flavoured and quite intense...not the hottest by a long margin but hotter than a lot of people would enjoy...next season we will concentrate on more of these...we have a lot of our normal run of the mill hot chillis this year, the horribly hot days and lots of water have been good for them...

Upon reading that - my rectal sphincter tells me - "a reason to be cheerful" - is that we don't actually know you!

'Er indoors grew some habaneros in her glasshouse a couple of years ago. Bastard things grew huge, and stayed strangely dark. Well, mostly black actually.

The daughter added her usual four to some sauce she traditionally makes, and ended up binning the lot. Waaayyyy over the top. Remade with two stripped out chillies the result was nice. For an adherent of things chilli. Never seen anything like it, even over-ripe they were savage.

Rocoto, eh? Where'd you get them?

And I suppose you'll be claiming some responsibility for both of them, eh?

Sounds good, I grew some a few years back, quite small ones but it was a bumper crop. Grew them in a big pot and moved it around to maximize sun. Fed them on tomato food. Awesomely hot, had them on everything, and didn't get a cold for three years.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

on chillis though. grew some then-hottest, "bhut jalokia"

mild. sadly. indo, outdo, shade, sun, wet, dry.... no good. nice bit of burn, only grew to an inch in that "devils tail" manner. but "hottest" - i think not!

also had some beaut purplo peppers, didn't grow, the second season.
