Just like a few on KB...

According to the source of all knowledge [wikipedia]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clive_Matthew-Wilson, he's a mechanic and ran his own garage...

"Motorcyclists could be getting away with speeding because half of all mobile speed cameras point in the wrong direction to pick up their rear mounted number plates".

    Only half?

    Really?

    Exactly.

I'd say more like 90% point the other way.

Ever read the Dog & Lemon guide? He hates all mechanical things. The conclusion for most cars is avoid avoid.

He has no respect for the joy of motoring.

Is that why ol'e sarge in the Twizel store had a handlebar mustache! Of course I never knew that - but - how come you know these things?

Yeah, the media always wheel him out. I outed him in 2004 as having no credentials publish the Dog & Lemon guide due to his classy wheels at the time: A Hindustan Ambassador, otherwise known as a 1955 Morris Oxford with square headlights and very Indian build quality.

His ramblings are not even worth linking here to moan about what ever they are on a given day...
He's just showing how far behind the times and uninformed he is.... I bet most of those camera operators hear the bike coming and eyeball the plate as he passes. Which sucks if its a cop manning the van and not a civvie as it will be demerit points included for a manual ticket.... And then there's the 10-1 all units for the bike headed towards them for a double serve up....

Soon there will be an app called Driver that the govt will mandate you have on your phone which will have to be on at all times by law. You will enter rego number of vehicle driving and driver license number and the cameras and patrol cars will auto ticket you without requiring a traffic stop or paperwork and auto deduct from bank account.

Ooh I couldn't possibly comment on what Tony got up to although some of the stories he told of his time in the military in exotic places kept us in stitches. Stories of 'cherry-boys' and of baskets containing young ladies being lowered from the ceiling onto said 'cherry-boys' and spun. Crikey!

And as for how I knew the 'homo-grip' term ... lost in the mists of time I'm afraid.

This will be funny to enforce won't it? But hey, it might improve the sales of ghost phones. Or better still, encourage folks to turn the friggin thing off. This might improve driving standards more than any speed enforcement measures to date...

So he is at the extreme "luddite" end of the hippy/greenie fuckwit scale.

No very easy, enforcement is only going to get more automated and simpler. It will be illegal by then to not have your phone fully charged and always on or else you are a terrorist.
As with all changes they are incremental but the recent TSA mandate that travellers phones and laptops must be fully charged (so they can snoop inside) to prove they are working and not bombs is a first step. (Never mind that the batteries in these things are volatile and could be used as weapons anyway....)
A network of sensors will detect vehicles with no approved cellphones switched on and generate an intercept order to a patrolman/soldier to engage the target.
If people have issues with this concept they will just false flag detonate a car bomb in the city and say the FBI were about to stop the terrorists but lost them because they switched their phones off.
Always remember the govt is about tracking their slaves, not keeping them safe. This is not to be confused with the actions of the police who may at times try to keep people safe.
All moot as we will be full blown driverless cars by then....
