Why cant it get out of the drive?

Drove around today, only did 27kms around the back streets.
Picked it up pretty quickly, took me about 20 minutes to get the hang of it. It helped driving a manual car and previous mountain bike riding experience
Taking corners and accelerating out of them is fun as fuck!
My bike doesn't have a rev meter so I just have to listen to the engine when I have to shift and it doesn't tell me what gear I'm in so I guess I should be counting gears when I take off.
Need to sort out my riding course so I can go for my learners!
Anything that I should be doing as a new rider or anything I should be aware of?

...cool thread...a new kiddy on a bike gets all the right advice from the KB brigade of rifflers and vagabonds and hey presto, his ride works...yay...miracle of christmas I'd say...
The hypocracy meter is off the scale here... how many of you lot did 'rider training' before your first bike???
I rode my mates bike in cul de sac couple of times before going to the local Yamaha dealer and test riding an RG250 and FZR250 BEFORE I even got my learner licence. Bought the FZR with student loan.
It was a whole two weeks before my first crash
I think if I'd had training I just would have crashed faster...
