Entry level DIY stuffs aka how to learn the stuffs?

Google is your friend! The internet is full of people asking questions and knowlegable people giving answers
the best way to learn is to do! Find a guide, follow it => take photos as you go so you have references when it comes to putting things back together.
chances are you'll outgrow a gn pretty quick unless youre just riding around town, so stick to the basics instead of concentrating on mods..learn to polish paint and anything metal! When it comes to selling it people aint gonna see your regular oil changes or perfectly tentioned chain but everyone can appreciate a bike that shines.

Heh. Does anyone ever notice how restrained the female species is compared to males? Like I don't think I've ever come across girls makin strange comments when someone indirectly mentions they are male!!

I can polish and shine, that part is easy - I'm also a house painter so know my attack weaponry when it comes to prep - though I did learn some great tools from youtube re shining! ie windex for the chrome (works great) tin foil for all surface rust (great for chrome at least) and paint stripper on engine cover.

Thanks for the advice re groups, met a couple of the guys that go to NASS and they showed me how to corner better and also helped me check out engine condition etc.

I have too much air going to engine (so I am told by the guys who know what they are doing), and judging by the cracks in the carb > cylinder "pipe" that could be my issue.

My chain got replaced 6mths ago but not my sprockets which DEFS need a replace, can I keep the "new" chain and just buy sprockets? both sprockets combo is $50 off aliexpress - compared to cycletreads' combo including chain for $150..

Ok off to play with sandpaper and corners. Not at the same time!!

fine steel wool for uncoated bare alloy and solvol autosol or similar
Pledge works on paint work smells nice too. A prewash coating with Handy Andy applied with a paintbrush works well on road grime grease great around spokes etc.

False economy not to replace chain at same time an old chain will wear out the sprocket faster a decent set of sprockets will out last a few chains.
Same re cheap stuff from China, you might be lucky... but by the time you freight it here and if then it turns out to be crap or doesn't fit?

Sometimes it has been observed when women are in large groups that your observation doesn't hold true...its the fairer sex generally is just a bit more subtle.......

Maybe you should try going to a mainly female site, like a sewing or a craft group, and mention that you are male. then see what happens.

On your idea of increasing the front sprocket to 39 teeth. You could try it, but there are just a couple of small points to consider. First off I think you would struggle to get a 39 tooth sprocket to fit in space designed for only 15 teeth, and if you could you find it difficult to make a standing start on the flat and almost impossible on a hill.

However decreasing the rear sprocket from 41 to 39 teeth will give you a slightly higher potential top speed, and make it harder to get there. With only 20 HP available at the crankshaft (much less at the rear wheel) I believe you should stick with the original sprocket size.
