Whats the road through the Urewera national park like?
Is the unsealed section in the middle still there? In which case its probably a Landrover not Harley trip. But I do want to ride it some day soon. I'm thinking seriously about a GS1200.

Just another leather clad Tinkerbell.
The Wanker on the Fucking Harley is going for a ride!
Middle section still unsealed.
Mad traffic through the holiday period.
Stay as far left as possible to avoid head ons.
A Harley could easily do did, but expect lots of dust, and slowish ride.MHO
mr google has driven it...
Don't do it! Windy as hell, it's gravel from just after Murupara.
Go out to Opotiki instead and down on SH2 through the Waioeka Gorge
That Waioeka Gorge is a great ride. Worth a look.
do it for certain, harley or whatever you ride, its gravel from tuai to ruatahuna, then back on the gravel to tewhaiti (20kms east of murupara)
ive ridden it a number of times, on road tyred trailbikes, knobblyed trail bikes and a sports bike laden with luggage, all fine just stay left as the others have said
