Will there be a pre-2000 class sometime?

Just wondering what the general opinions are, With a pre 72, 82, 89 classes going will there be a place for a pre 200 class. I think there is probably alot of bikes that people would enjoy racing of that era and if you hadnt noticed time keeps on ticking

Trouble is, those dates - and pre 63 - aren't just arbitrarily pulled out of a hat....They represent dates of real change, both in the bikes that were raced and the way they were raced too. Convince me that a date say between 1994 and now has seen that sort of major change and I'll think about supporting a new class....maybe in 2025....

So long as your bike is a Carbie bike, you could always bring it down to the Manawatu and run in the Bridgestone Series.
We have a 1990's Carbie Class and have F1, F2 and F3 classes to run them in.

A heap of fun. There is 2 x NSR 300's 3 x CBR 600's and a ZX6R that regularly enter the F2 Field.
We are on the same grid as the bigger F1 bikes (GSXR1100's and GSXR750) and have awesome battles with them too....
Also in with the Pre 89's.. There isn't too much difference in speed really.... Might help if I actually tuned the engine and put on the 520 chain and..... and.... Well yup, could spend lots.

More are welcome of course....

The Nay Sayers have said that someone will just buy an R1 or R6 and clean up..... Well, I beg to differ, it was a Honda 1, 2 & 3 in F2 last year.. Somebody actually has to know how to ride what ever bike they bring along...

Its fuel injected. Fuel injection was stock in all bricks after 1983.

FI is allowed if fitted as original.


90's Carbies is a Vic Club only class. Those were picked as it was a handy cut off....
I personally would have said Pre 96 as the GSXR 750T (1996) was the first bike to come out that was "powerful" yet as small as a 600 at the time....
Of course the Y model featured FI...

That said, good ol Honda still had steel frames and Carbs all the way to about 2000.

I digress, it seems to have caused confusion, as many people forget that you can run a FI Pre 89 bike still. It will be in the same championship as all the other Pre 89 bikes.

BSK speedworks run a 1985 k100 in England and have managed a healthy 125rwhp even shaft driven.
The weight on mine is so low it would be fun to race. Only issue would be gearing as they max rev doing 240kph. Might be a fraction slow but could be ok.
You can 17inch the wheels easy enough with k1100 wheels but would run a slight off centre rear wheel and would need use a 160 rear.

Not really my point, but yes, FI has of course been around for yonks...
My point was more that the last half of the 90's the majority of manufacturers started making bigger improvements on the models they released in 1990.

I will correct myself, it was in fact the V model SRAD GSXR that featured Fuel Injection. The Y's came out in 2000.
