    Trackday Sunday 4/1/2015

    In case you missed it.
    Manfeild Days

    CDMTC Manfeild days are held in January and Easter of each year and cost just $70 (cheap as).

    Bikes are to be WOF safety standard, one rider to one bike, one bike per rider, riders need to produce a drivers licence to prove their ID, no cheques are accepted.

    Prepayment of entry for 4th January 2015.

    For our next Manfeild open day we are allowing up to 50 prepaid entries (of the total 160), this will allow enthusiasts that have to travel distances to book a spot that guarantees their entry (subject to passing Scrutineering).

    Early Bird $60.00 - please pay online by 15 December 2014 (& provide the information below).

    After that or on the Day $70.00. CASH ONLY. And still the cheapest fun in the country.

    does WOF safety standard mean lights, horn, speedometer, mirrors(taped), reflectors, road tyres, pillion pegs? or just tyre wear, brake pads, quiet enough, no leaking, no wobbly bits?

    Question

    I am keen to do the track day, but was wondering if you could clarify something for me. Your website says that the bike has to be WOF safety standard, does that mean you have to have a bike that has a current WOF?

    The reason I ask is because I have a track day bike that is obviously not road legal.

    If you could please confirm for me what bikes are permitted at your track days that would be great.

    No, your bike does not need a WOF but needs to be safe, e.g. tyres with some tread, a chain that won't fall off, brakes that work, and good wheel bearings, throttle that returns on its own, etc. We have no interest in headlights, indicators, mirrors or whether it's registered.

    Please note we will be opening scrutineering at 8:00 am
    I just realised my helmet won't arrive in time anyway. Maybe next time.

    But it is a little poor saying ALL bikes MUST have a WOF.

    I laughed at your original comment but I was genuinely trying to clarify whether you need a WOF, a bike up to WOF standard, or just a mechanicaly sound bike.

    The reason I didn't assume the latter is not one of safety, but of preference and convenience ..bear with me..
    if every bike was WOF ready, track only riders would be very few. I thought mabye the trackday was intended for road riders only. (this may be the race forum but you never know sometimes)
    If every bike had a WOF, maybe the scuriteneering process would be a matter of just checking the WOF is up to date. Not very safe but convenient!

    True, true...
    That is why when you bring your bike along to a Vic Club Track day we don't care if it has a WOF or not.
    We just give it a darn good look over to ensure that it is safe to enter the track... Although this has a small flaw as it is up to the people looking to spot faults with a machine (See Raceyriders Thread.... I'm pretty sure it wasn't me who let that one pass).... Ultimately it is the riders responsibility to ensure that their bike is safe to ride or not... just like on the road.

    All that said, there can be an issue with insurance.... Well, for an all out track day there is NONE as far as I know.
    For TRAINING days there are some companies that will cover you as long as you are not on track with non road legal bikes.

    My take on it is this.... If you crash your bike on the track at any time then it isn't really worth claiming anyway.
    If you can't afford the risk, then you really can't afford to enter the event.
    Unless you are a total muppet, or VERY unlucky, the damage you will do, or the damage done to you isn't really worth the claim in most cases..... Okay, there are horror stories, but you get those on the Coast to Coast or many other rides there are lots of riders of different abilities.

    Put it this way, I have binned a race bike at Manfeild 3 times now. The most expensive crash was at less than 40 km/hr. The two at around 150 k cost me about $100 all up... Yup, Fibreglass fairings are cheap for me to get repaired...

    Oh, and just because a bike has got a fresh WOF doesn't mean it is actually safe. Found a CBR 250 that had a 3 day old WOF, but a sticking throttle.....
