Speed of navigation around the site

I'm finding that when logged onto the site, the speed of navigation around it,eg back to a forum after looking at a thread, is very slow indeed.
When not logged on, the speed is very much faster. To the point that I'm only logging on to post..

Now, given I'm on dialup and have a crap/cheap computer, I may be the only one here complaining.
Any one else noticing this ? Is there a reason for it other than my setup ?

At busy times of the day ... slow response can be expected. I think your slow computer is the cause of your issue.

It also depends on your providers data plan you have (or not) paid for.

Did you try turning it off, waiting for 12 seconds, then turning it back on?

That doesn't follow. It doesn't matter what time of day - or night - it is, logged on is way slower than just a visitor. Look through the site as a visitor, no probs. Log on and it's in slow motion.

this does not happen on other forums i belong to.

I have a cheap computer ... a good one though.

    NO speed issues on KB.

Invest in similar ... or suck it up ...

Or maybe ... go with the "OTHER" forums ...

Have you compared your dialup costs with the cost of a cheap broadband plan? You might find it doesn't even cost much more..

Yep, and in this rural area, broadband is bloody expensive....looks like I'll have to keep buying the lotto tickets.

Ironically, theres a fiber optic cable past the front gate. laid for the local school - who couldn't afford to connect to it for about 12 months after it was laid...Forget wireless as an option too , we're in a dead spot for cellphone reception.

Change your colour settings for when you are logged on. Some colours take longer to get through the copper wires.

Is the rural broadband service available in your area (which runs off the cell towers)? If you go the the Chorus map web site:
    https://www.chorus.co.nz/maps
And plug in your address it will tell you what is available in your area, and what is planned (if anything).

The Chorus site seems to be unavailable but local info is, SFA available, nothing planned as far as is known.

Still no explanation as to why the speed difference though. It surely can't just be because of dialup as it's acceptably fast when not logged on.....

When you are logged on the Videos and the pics load, this is why it is faster for you not to be logged on
