Where's the boat ramp?

When I lived in Te Anau many moons ago a largish trailer sailer was being pulled up the ramp.
Also unsecured......
outboard spectuarly desintegrated....
hull wasnt alloy, and was majorly fucked....

How did this mishap come about....?
