    Revit SLR gloves

    Purchased from: Motomail
Price: $129.99 on sale, usually $199.95
    Age: 16/08/14.

Some pics of the gloves taken today, they have been used almost every day give or take about a week or two since I got them. Done about 9000km :

I purchased these gloves as I wanted some protection past my wrist and for my knuckles that my previous gloves didn't provide. From day one the gloves went on really easily and fitted me perfectly. They are not uncomfortable and feel just fine being worn for 4 hours straight in blistering heat. They dried really quickly overnight after being caught in a couple of storms too.
They appear to provide good protection but also articulate enough that I can do up my helmet strap, operate the zips on my bag, zip up my leathers etc and even use my touchscreen phone with no issues at all as though I wasn't wearing gloves (I do however have the option enabled on the S4 that increases the sensitivity to use with gloves, but it worked fine without that option enabled too). There is a little strap to tighten the gloves around your wrist too.
My only complaint in regards to design would be that I would want my pinky stitched to the ring finger on both hands as they have in other gloves of similar nature.

However the great features are marred by the poor build quality of the gloves.
    So here we go:

First off, in the first week I got it, this weird haze appeared:

Also it seemed my thumbs on both hands were pushing the stitching of the gloves to the limits...
    http://i.imgur.com/5TYJ6Uy.jpg

After a couple of weeks of use, the stitching on my left hand middle finger came apart and I when I returned them to motomail, they sent it away for repair. It took less than a week and I bought some cheap second hand gloves in the interim. I mentioned about the stitching on the thumbs but they said it shouldn't be an issue and the repair person will fix it if needed. I also raised the issue about the weird haze but they said not to worry as it doesn't seem to affect the integrity of the protective shell.

However the repair looked horrid and the other side of the glove was all perforated from the needle, I didn't want to make a fuss so I took it and am grateful it was all sorted.

Recently after about 5 months of riding, the stitching damage made the area of the glove worse:
    http://i.imgur.com/v65tQ2r.jpg

But then this also happened last weekend, stitching coming apart (Left hand glove index finger):

    http://i.imgur.com/xMwZbaT.jpg
    http://i.imgur.com/HoAbkHb.jpg

Then today while taking the pictures I noticed this (left hand glove):
    http://i.imgur.com/OmsZBmT.jpg

I find it weird that the left hand glove is the one having all these issues but I assume it is because I move it back and forth a lot due to using the clutch. Right hand glove isn't so bad but is showing the same initial wear marks that lead to failures of the left hand.

I will probably take these in to motomail next week and try sort the issues out as they are still under warranty. I take great care of my gear and haven't had any falls or anything with them and I use a good leather cleaner and conditioner every month or so that even slightly waterproofs them, but I am fighting a losing battle with these gloves I think.

My friend has a pair of Alpinestars gloves he has been riding with for years and they look just as good as when he got them, no damage or loose threads at all! They also costed about the same as these gloves at retail price too.

So there you have it, buyer beware, I would be interested to hear if others have had similar experiences.
Not to say Revit sucks, my Revit textile pants and jackets are excellent however and don't even have a thread loose with about 6000km on them!

    No problem.

To be honest the whole thumbs thing is a bigger issue than I made it out to be. I have gotten used to it now so I didn't think about it much, however today when I wore the gloves and extended my thumb away from my palm, I realised that there is not enough material in the webbed area between thumb and index finger so the glove stretches more than it should and puts tension on the stitching at the tip of the thumb. So after so many kms of riding, it's still like that and hasn't stretched out.

This is also an issue when I go to use my indicator switch with my thumb. Again I've gotten used to it so it didn't occur to me to write much about it. However when I conciously think about how the glove is in some situations, there really isn't enough material between then webbed area of the thumb. I actually stretch the glove to reach my indicator switch. So much so that I've subconsciously started using the area between my thumbnail and knuckle instead to operate my indicator switch.

Well well well, have a read of the review here:

    http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/r...lr-race-gloves

These were my favorite piece of gear I had until I had to use them. I have huge hands with very long fingers and fortunately these fit my very well. Incredibly comfortable, very breathable for sub 100 degree weather (I didnt test Higher than 90).
Long of the short of it is that when I went down in a lowside at about 40mph into gravel the stitching on the right glove palm gave through. My hand is a little cut up, but I was very surprised they didnt hold up. I would be concerned what would happen at higher speeds if you hit asphalt with them.
I can post pictures if necessary.
Loved the gloves but dont think I will be buying Revit gear again.

    Good review.

Just goes to show that you can't always bank on the well known brands being as good as they claim to be.

For example, I bought a bunch of Alpinestars stuff when I first got into riding and would never buy anything Alpinestars again.

That was a very thorough and comprehensive review, of which you should do more of.

    Good stuff, much appreciated.

Why would you not buy Alpinestars again? I was just about to replace these with alpinestars gloves...

After being on KB forums for a while and knowing some members... I will assume this isn't sarcasm.

Yep, a lot of keyboard warriors on here, but credit where credit is due.

I appreciate the thought and effort it takes to do a write up like that.
Exactly the sort of thing as I, the consumer. wants to know.

Most of my gear is Re'vit!, and I would still buy from them again, but you do have to be wary, as your review has proven.

The Alpinestars textiles I have aren't waterproof, or barely water resistant, when they were sold to me as being waterproof.

The Alpinestars gloves and boots are also supposed to be waterproof but aren't.

On the flipside, I bought a pair of Five gloves a few months ago and they're awesome.

Perhaps I just got shitty models of theirs, but after such a bad run I wouldn't go there. Having said that, the textiles were at their lower price point ($400 jacket, $300 pants, $200 gloves, $250 boots) so perhaps that explains why they failed but for that price I've seen other brands that perform better.

I gotta ask - what are you doing to your gloves?!?! I have had my pair almost a year and I ride 500+ km a week, every week without fail (so thats in wind rain or shine) - my look pretty good - there are a few bits and peices of wear, but nothing out of the ordinary considering the mileage I have done with them

I have noticed that when big brands make cheaper products, they absolutely suck. Prime example is sennheiser head/ear phones. Their cheap stuff suck! Perhaps alpinestars is the same, just making a quick buck off having their name and reputation to sell it for them.

Seriously?! I ride about the same too. I can't believe you haven't had issues with yours. Can you post up some pics? I've stopped wearing mine since I posted this thread because I don't want them to get worse before I take them in on the weekend. I love these gloves, but I can't trust them in a fall even if I get new ones.

I have a pair of Jerez, Bombers and the Moto ones. The Jerez are a few years old and still fine, they are my track gloves. The other 2 are not that old. All no problems.

I did buy a used pair of Revits that fell apart of the second use by me. But who knows how old they were.

Most of my gear is Revit and no problems at all.

As for fit you need to try them on a handlebar or your bike before buying. I cant wear Alpinestars as they dont fit me.

Yeah My revit jacket and pants are great. Just the gloves make me sad.
Going in this weekend to see what I can do. I am entitled to a refund seeing as this is the second time I've had to return it right?
