    Auckland long weekend

Yahoo. It's Auckland Anniversary weekend and the weather forecast is great. We're heading out for three days on the road ...

(Don't bother to reply. I'm already gone as soon as I click Submit and then shut down this electric beast ...)

I hope some of you in the Auckland Province are getting put on the road too ...

Have a good one people and I do plan to be back next week (but with idiots on the road who the fuck knows ...)

You celebrate Auckland Anniversary in BOP?

Motorways are madness already. Under Market Rd, northbound seemed like half a dozen vehicles or more, no idea how many were involved in a get together... haha to those in cars in the countries biggest car park

I went Through NewMarket shortly after 6pm and the traffic was at a complete standstill (not even a bike could get through). Mind you, the two fire engines completely blocking Broadway in both directions didn't help.

T'was a great weekend ... Went to Fielding on Saturday (traffic in Taupo was madness ...) 10 bikes in the group ..

To Thompson's Motorcycle Musuem Sunday morning (well worth a trip) then to Whanganui and up the River Road to Pipiriki, then on to Ohakune ...

Home Monday via National Park, Turangi, Taupo on Sunday (traffic round the lake on SH1 was crazy - I wanted to go up the western access road, but me mates thought it was the longer way home .. would have been quicker after all ..)

The only issue was that t'was BLOODY HOT in black leathers whenever we stopped !!!

BoP used to be part of the old Auckland province .. which is what the anniversay days are based on ..

"The regions covered are set by provincial district (as they stood when abolished in 1876)"

Go here for the old provinces and what that area now covers ..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_...niversary_days scroll down a bit to see the provincial holidays ..
