Bucket of the Month - January 2014 - Cole's Ratty old FXR

January's Bucket of the Month - Sorry it's late!
    Cole's Ratty old FXR.

Thus far we have featured fairly flashy bikes.

    This one isn't.

This bike is very close to a standard old FXR.
It's got a pipe, old slicks, clip-on handlebars and nylon track protection.
Apart from that and a few other standard race prep items it's a more beaten and corroded version of the bike that left the Suzuki factory.
You can tell it's lived by the sea!

Don't let that misguide you in to thinking it's slow though!
It's certainly far from the fastest bike out there but Cole is really living the old saying of 'It's about the rider rather than the bike".
He's relatively new to this great sport but his determination to improve and his admirable approach (As well as a fair bit of talent) have seen him improve rapidly.
He's moved up from B grade and is now screaming around on this thing in A grade and getting faster still! Some of the front runners will have a bit to worry about once he improves this or makes the move to something faster.

This bike is the perfect example of how to take a cheap hack and learn to ride really hard and have a massive amount of fun doing it!

    Good work Cole!

That's a bit harsh, last time I saw it it was sporting a flashy new tank.

    What?
Don't you look at my accountant.

Cole was riding the wheels off that thing at tmanui. I do like the crinkle style paint hes used on the engine aswell.
I miss the lush seat of an fxr, lounge chair racing.

Yeah what's the bet his tap isn't fixed yet? (hmm best I txt him)

I teased him that as a diesel mechanic 'This is the carburettor. It uses the Bernnoulli principle to suck gas into the airstream'
    He takes it well.

Absolutely, and thanks to FXR150's like this, Buckets has a great following, I like it.
