    Littlest gardener

One thing I would like my grand-daughter to learn from me is the gardening bug. This is one of her projects - started way back in early spring. The seeds came from some doodad she bought - free seeds were part of the deal. Whilst I recognised them as sunflower seeds, I had no idea they were of such a tall variety. She thinks she is the bees knees now - especially since I grew dwarf sunflowers at my own place. "Mine are MUCH bigger Papa!"

    Well done.

If I send you some seeds, do you think that you could get her to grow them for me?

Good stuff. Keep her keen during the winter by applying silver foil to a cupboard walls and run a heat lamp in there for the plants.

Remember to tell her that if she wakes up and the sunflower goes right up into the sky - leave the chooks alone!

That's a proper sunflower... check if the seeds are edible as can then be dried and fed to the birds over winter, unless Grandad eats then first!

When I was at primary school we grew sweet peas - another fun plant to grow.

She also helped me grow strawberries and blueberries - her favourites. Oh and she helped me with the transplanting of the tomatoes too. And we visit the city gardens here often. So she has plenty exposure to growing stuff.
