    Accidents waiting to happen

As it is and always has been, men (and some crazy women) sometimes feel the need to create, these creations wether ground up builds or modified machines can be either works of art, or total death traps. .

This thread will be devoted to the deathtraps, the machines you sooner see turned into scrap than even sit on.

    My first nomination.

Wheres your sense of adventure? Some of these things are not made to be daily riders/commuters, but fun toys to take to shows and meets and freaky parties.
If people have enough disposable income to enjoy the wackier things in life, I say rock on.

That's a huge assumption to make, they may in fact have been judged on the design and quality of the work involved in the project, rather than if it is legal for use on the road. It's far more likely to be an assessment for an engineering class than a wof check on a motorcycle that they're trying to pass.

I suspect you have very little understanding of how NCEA works, much like my son who somehow accidentally achieved excellence without realising it.

    Excellence.
I would have thought a bike that had working suspension and brakes and drive train rather than some welds holding a $4k motor off the ground would have been worth an excellence mark when it could be shown being ridden around.

To me thats metal art only and you could slap that together in the average mancave while sharing some beers with the boys on Saturday.

An excellence in a school engineering shop apparently means diddly squat in the real world.. just looking at it makes me shudder, small diametre tube, lack of any real gussets, kinda looks like an upscacled mini chopper..I can only begin to imagine how much flex it'd have under a full load

I remember when I was in school a year 13 class made an offroader..tore the shit out of the rugby field near end of year, that thing deserved excellence. ..

but a frame you couldn't stop rolling down a hill unpowered. ..hm.
