TRISTANK REPORTING LIVE FROM THE BEACH!
    NEWS JUST IN...

Just went down there and had a look.

The plane is probably a cessna 182RS or something (most common trainer planes they have sitting out the tarmac there) and it is now lying with the right hand side wing stuck into the mud and the lefthand side and the vertical and left horisontal tail sticking out of the water.

It is about 70m off the beach.

The police chopper is cicling and lighting the whole thing up quite well, plenty of boats and the police boat is keeping them all at bay.
The police van and a HP car have just left the scene.

There is no praking down at kohimaramara beach so prak towards the hill side of kohi and walk down. There is about 300+ people on the beach and surrounding vantage points, reminds me of something out of an alien film. It's an interesting sight to be hold to say the least!

edit: And also.... about 30 mins before the copper chopper started circling, a plane flew VERY LOW over my house... mabey the plane was looking for me

Damage seems low to moderate on the plane - probably clipped a wing then cartwheeled at a slow speed as it seems quite intact. Pilot may have survived, but I got there to late to tell as they had already left the scene [police etc]

Yes they took the strike force, and ageing and not-utilisable Strike Force, BUT they have given us two new Passenger Carriers and are relifing all the other planes, Replacing our old Helo's and have given me a number of nice pay rises in the last 4 years...
I think I'm too pissed to get into this tonight. But good show they gave you a pay rise I truly believe the armed forces deserved even better. But of course they gave the Armed forces a rise so they wouldn't notice that they were rushing off to war on a donkey with a rusty gun, no bullets and no planes capable of fighting off a threatening geriatic disabled budgie raised by Osama's cousin's next door neighbour.
One day we will have a real emergency and need air strike attack ability within a few minutes and it wont exist even if the threat was happening 100 metres from our best airforce base.

Sounds like we got an exceptionally good deal from Sir Helen.

Sounds also like they think "if we don't look like we can hurt them then maybe they won't hit us" - yeah right!!

    Relax?

I heard the guy crash, no more than two minutes away from my house, loads of coppers around, and a couple of helicopters too.

If the guy had gone a bit more to the right he could've taken out a fair few people.

Oh... and btw... how do you steal a plane these days (after 9/11)??

Oh, what an exciting place to live is Auckland
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

    Point 1

We havn't rushed off to war. Pay rises were primarily to bring us on par with Civilian Sector earngins for comparitive jobs (if there is such a thing).

    Point 2

Airforce does not need to be able to fight in a war, We need to support, and we do that bloody well with what aircraft we have.
    Army Fights
    Airforce Supports
    Navy Defends

Its like that the world over. You will find that the AIrcraft used in wars are most often the property of the US Army, not the Airforce...

Have you anyclue howmany times we actually used the Strike Force in Anger? Once, and that was to tell a fishing boat to fuck off. Thats 40 Years of ownership to stop some Asian Fishing Boat from stealing but thats a whole other kettle of fish (pun intended)

    Point 3

IF we get in shit creek, Yanks will save us, any particular reason they are still in Christchurch as part of the Antarctic Operations even though its pretty much all Civilian Scientists? Guess whats hiding under Antarctica Boys and Girls, thats right Oil! Yanks will be here in a flash as the best point of entry to the Antarctic, i promise you that.

    Point 4

Im too tired to get into this now myself. Continue tomorrow perhaps.

    Eye witness report

The guy had what looked like a Cessna - only had the tail wing and half the wing sticking out the water. Looked like a blue and white colour scheme.

He - looked like a dark haired middle aged pakeha guy ended up in the drink. Got fished out by some youngsters I think who were first on the scene.

They probably were in a green land rover discovery that was parked right on the ramp out on the waters edge.

There was the westpac chopper that landed and a cop chopper that was in the air, bout at least 8 piggy cars and one ambulance.

The chap must not have been that badly hurt cos he was laid down wrapped in blankets and was being spoken to by a bunch of cops for about 20+ minutes before he was carried over to the parked ambo.

The street was jammed with more cars than on the motorway during rush hour by curious people - heaps of cell phones and a few press people with their cameras.

So who do you think is behind this?? National, Labour, Winston the whinjer, Act ???? Or maybe the Destiny chapee......???

Have you ever been to Ardmore? Probably the easiest airport to steal a plane from.
