    Jesus H this is annoying

Old girl lives up in Christchurch and was preparing to set off on her regular sunday morning outing to the Riccarton market, she had the car running and had gone inside to grab something when next she sees the car off down the driveway and out on to Memorial ave courtesy of some cheeky piece of shit, shes on the phone to me in tears fuck all i can do from down hereso tell her to ring the coppers which she does. The car itselfs hardly a collectible so no doubt its been taken to save the prick a walk, shes more bothered by the fact the house keys were in it so is hell bent on getting the locks changed today which no doubt will cost a pretty penny (anyone know if the insurance company will help her out with that cost?).Wouldnt bother me so much if the thing was parked up in town etc and got knicked but this piece of shit must have seen an old lady get out of the car and go inside, makes it bloody personal really, any old ladys bad enough but when its your own.

She may have insurance issues if the car was not properly secured.

Fawk! Not often you hear of that happening in NZ but the cunt obviously saw an opportunity and took it.
Don't personally know any lock smiths to hook you up with a deal, but we used James Bull a for a few shitty situations in Akaroa and they were always brilliant.
If she goes to Mitre10 (the Sydenham one has some onto it people) and chats to 2 or 3 of the staff hanging around the lock section she might find someone to install them for her (after buying them there, obviously) which would be cheaper.

Will it be insured? Keys in it unattended = not good.

Same thing happened to a friend at a gas station. Left the keys in a ford F150 while they went in to pay, looked outside to see the ute launching over a kurb. They weren't expecting it to be as quick as it was, got scared and did a runner leaving the ute half on the road.

Bit harsh if they moan about it being unattended she reversed it out of her garage stopped at the front door shot inside to grab something, the car parked down her driveway a fair bit different than if it had been parked out on the street etc,Still i take your point,be interesting to see what happens personally i reckon the thing will turn up parked somewhere just hope its not to damaged.

What a shit of a thing to happen! Hope it turns up soon with keys inside. Changing locks is expensive so hopefully she can avoid that!

Nah mate - people need to learn what I learnt as a kid - if it isnt yours, dont fucking touch it.
My mums car got nicked from her shed late last year - shes fucking 70 with mobility issues - its her only way of getting out of the house. rang the cops, and they told her - "let us know if you see it or hear anything more' - did absolutely fucking zero. Not a flash car either - still never heard anything back about it, been 5 months now.

worst part is, when its stolen from the property, rather than in town - if its reported, and they actually get caught - they know where you live, makes you worry about payback.

Unfortunately it wouldn't. They all think they wont get caught and only the dumber of their dump mates ever get nabbed. Crims think only of the immediate gains, not of any consequences.

I see where a radio host in Auckland got burgled while she was at home, NOW burglary will become a major crime topic with the media demanding the police get tough etc etc.

Well at least she is OK.

Mums house got ripped off a while ago. My baby brother went for a walk around the block and spoke to a couple of groups of youths and suprise suprise all her stuff got returned, with a lot of stuff that was not hers. I should add baby brother was the sargent at arms at the road knights at the time.

Good luck getting it back, I suspect it is local kids.

Tower cover the loss of keys according to the policy no questions asked. Rep said that included if you had doubts about a former tenant having key. If that is any help?
You ring their hotline they send someone out. When we were insuring the house there were several companies offering similar. All required you to use their smithys but also had differing ts and cs.

If there has been activity in the hood lately all the more reason for insurance to come to the party for a smithy, or a Smith and Wesson.
