    Throttle cables?

    Does anyone make up cables on demand anymore?
    Throttle cable for my DR350 seized a while ago and I have been too poor to replace it but this has now become urgent because my CB has died.
    I need to press the DR back into service until the new stator arrives.
    I can get one in day or two but I need to get to work today, is there anywhere within an hour and a half drive of tuakau that I could take my seized cables and get a matching set made?

    Or that is likely to stock cables for a DR350?

    Their advice given the cable has sized was to order a pre made one.
    Says they would have to sacrifice the original and may not end up with a whole one a the end.

    All good... I have ordered one of them through the most local dealer.
    Mr Cycles in Pukekohe.

    I was hoping to avoid catching the train for the next couple of days.
    Suiting the DR back up for the 2-4 weeks that the stator will take to arrive seems like the best solution.

    Given how much they cost aftermarket compared to off shore OEM) I may buy an 0EM one (2-4 weeks wait) to keep handy.
    This is the second time a cable has siezed.
    Original snapped within 250kms. The replacement came from Colemans, they happened to have one on hand from someone who did not pick up their order.
    That seized on the return pipe up near the neck at about 20,000kms old.
    This one lasted about 16,000 but then I parked it up for six months and found it seized when I tried to start it next. Bastard thing was as smooth as iced baileys until I parked up.

    I suspect that while "performance cable lube" is the ducks nuts for smooth movement I should perhaps have used the suzuki recomendation of engine oil to lube it.

    So I got the aftermarket cable. Seems alright except it is for a DR650 not a 350. It means I had to reroute the cables a little to have good clearance and not pinch the cables as they are a little longer and there is a bend in the carb ends where the 350 is supposed to be straight. Te down side I see immediately is that there is no angle I can route the cables on that they would drain if they filled with water. Something the factory service manual tells you to check for when fitting a new cable. I guess I will be lubricating this set a little more bit that is a bit of a white girl problem. For now: she runs.
