One of my bosses back in the day was a steam car fan boy - and you can see from that car that if the technology had been developed as much as the petrol engine we would likely be using steam now... His mate had a Doble and he said the difference was (from a normal car) that you went in the side door of the shed and turned it on and then opened the garage doors. By the time you were back in the car it was ready to run. Awesome car and very interesting

I reckon steam cars would be the bees' knees...all that torque!

There have been several attempts at steam cars in later decades, but the problem in the last 3 or 4 decades has been emissions - how strange that they can't get an external combustion engine to be clean burning, and yet they can do it with internal combustion. I think they just aren't trying hard enough.

I have been following this company almost since it's inception mainly watching for a motorcycle application:http://www.cyclonepower.com/index.html

Progress has been slower than I anticipated but then the USA has had some real economic set backs over the period. I like steam too.

I recall dimly in the 70's at an Aussie motorshow they showcased a sports car called the Gvang I think. From internet search it seems the corporations put the fear of God into the inventor and it all got dropped. It apparently did 200mph and ran on steam with a small oil starter,-only took a couple of minutes to fire up.
