    Micheal Park killed in WRC

    BBC

Sad day for the rally guys, this must be tough for Markko Martin,to race a rally car as fast as these guys do and have the responsability of carrying a passenger too.Loeb was 2 min late at his checkpoint,he didn't want to take the rally win.

Bugger, RIP a a bloody good guy.
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Heard it on the radio this morning, first death in 10 years. Even with all the latest gear it can still happen.

    RIP

that's really terrible. It's such a fast high risk sport, which I bloody love for one.. At least he died at his passion for motorsport. I saw day 1 and 2 yesterday, looks like everyone was pushing really hard. I'll be watching what they show tonight.

    RIP Beef..

Sadly it is similar to how we lost Freeth because of hitting a tree.

Yeah but the hitting of the tree wasnt the direct cause of his death, I doubt park died in the same way. I'd say that the impact from the tree would have been directly side on and the roll cage didn't quite do enough. Sad day indeed.

A very sad day indeed, as a rallying fan I was really upset by the news. It just shows how safe the sport is when this is the first death in 10 years in this series, but it doesn't make it any easier to accept.

I've thankfully only been in one serious rally accident (150km plus, enough to write the car off) and I walked away with a bruise and a small cut on my finger. Ask Joe McAndrew how many times he's crashed and you get some idea of how good the safety precautions are.

Sad, sad day, my heart goes out to his family and also to the driver - not something you'd ever want to experience.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

I was impressed with Loebs sportmanship by incurring a 2 minute penalty. It's not something you see in many sports these days.
Like Rossi immediately checking if Melandri was OK at Motegi.
