    New Oxford Hot Grips

    Definitely simpler to install and wire up. They also seem very definite and more precise to use - lets hope the fecking things are more reliable than the older style ...

    Its always a PIA on a fully faired bike to get the wires in but it looks OK. Getting the old grips off.... Fark what a dramarama...

    Still - everything done and oil/filter changes, chain lubed and tyres kicked ready for the TOMCC rally

    Sometimes I feel like the only person who doesn't have an issue getting old grips off - a shot of compressed air between the grip and the bar takes quick care of that.

    Interested to hear how these stand up to the elements. I'll be getting a set for the winter time.

    Getting normal grips off - No worries, shot of air OR bung some CRC up there. Oxfords come with a tube of superglue as they expand when they get hot and need to be glued on... Left side not too bad but the throttle side was tricky as you don't want to damage the twist grip.

    Normal grips are easy. Hot grips are solid with a hard plastic inner. Not so easy to get off.

    Pro tip is to set them to super hot for 10 mins then twist them and they pop right off.

    Managed around 2,000 km there and back over all sorts of roads on the beast. Its a bloody handful 2 up with top box and panniers at slow speed but shes still a good un at real world real road speeds...

    GREAT rally, great ride...

    Eh? I don't need a bra just yet but heaving that behemoth onto the main stand may result in a truss.. Mind you - sleeping bags plus 6 days clothing and swim gears not a bad effort
