    Honda CBR250 or Kawasaki ZXR250

Hi all I'd like to experience a CBR or ZXR, one of the powerful old ones.

Anyone have one for sale that is in good condition, WOF and Rego, around 50,000km and reasonably priced? Not keen to pay 4k or over like the ones on trademe want.

    Preferably in Auckland.

4k is a steal for the tm ones atm, yes they are old but credit due to the fact that they are in one piece. I got mine for 1800, but its got no fairings. Like, none. Ran like a bag of s**t too. Runs nice now tho hahahaha

puts a grin on my face, thats for sure

4k isn't a great price. There was a beaut CBR down south that sold less than a week after it was listed.

    This one:

Would have given 3800 if it was in auckland!

Surely someone has something like it here

I went and had a look at this one. I couldn't see anything wrong with it, tank has been repainted but not too bad a job, gave whole bike a good looking over. Decided not to buy it as I would rather a motard until I can get a big sports bike. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...x?id=852360816

That one has been on for a while. I reckon I will go check it out now that I'm in the market for one. Thanks for the link
Not sure on the whole oil being replaced with a fully synthetic though. I thought a semi was better especially for old bikes due to how the wet clutches are.

Really shocking condition. The pictures make it look awesome but it isn't really. Also has a rattle of the cam chain I believe.

I wouldn't. Its a poor investment for a bike that's not that impressive. To much risk.

Get a high torque bike that's newer.
drz400 is more fun for your money.
Spend a little more and buy wise.

Yeah I am considering a DRZ400 once I get my full or a similar adventure bike because I don't want to commute on a sports bike eventually. May just stick with my current bike until my full in Nov

I had a quick look over it and left I didn't want to waste his time once I saw it for the first time but for starters it was under a cover and still stunk of fresh paint.
The left cover between side and front fairing was like roughly glued together or something and then bogged and painted over, no sanding whatsoever.
Paint wasn't really that smooth, just a quick spray over to get it looking good for sale I suppose.
The rear axle was held with a castle nut and a massive clip (not sure if that's normal). The area where speedo mounts to was all surface rusted.
Rego was out since october last year, doesn't mention that in auction and I assume it was either ridden illegally or wasn't ridden at all as the guy got the bike in a trade for something else and didn't know much about the bike's history at all.

Good fixer upper if you get it at a dirt cheap price. But definitely not worth my time. Everything just looked real worn and faded and unappealing. Was like seeing a porn star on the internet and then meeting her in real life after she's just woken up and no make up etc.

Why wait? The DRZ is LAMS approved, as are almost all adventure bikes under 660cc.

I'm a student at the moment but going in to full time work by the end of this year so when the income is good once again I will be getting one
They're awesome bikes and I wish I kept my KLR but it just wasn't suitable for weekend rides through the hills for me. After I work full time I can have the best of both worlds with 1 sports bike and 1 adventure bike.

I looked it at it a few days ago. I don't really trust it. If it was such a bargain it would have gone by now but it hasn't. I think the seller has discovered something which prevents him from getting a revin easily and wants to flick it off now. Experienced it twice now.

Not a lot of people that want a 250 want or need the hassle of a revin. ..mention "revin" and a lot of people will run. Get a car jam report see if its been crashed if not then go for it.
