Winston resigns his list seat and that allows them to bring in another NZF list member.
Does this just make the Maori Party, ACT and United Future a little more important to National?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

The one thing I like about Winnie is that he pisses the rest of the MP's off. I notice that Key has flown to Auss (us paying?) to watch the cricket rather than support his national workers at the election hq.

I love Winston, classic underdog. Heckled by many but keeps fighting and comes out on top.
Classic display about how BS the whole modern politics and left right paradigm pigeon hole thing is too....

You can't blame the guy for that. Given the choice I am sure most would have gone to the cricket too.

Not sure if your applying that to Winnie or the By election. I really feel for Willow Jean Prime, in my mind the best MP for us with her feet in the community.
    But, no. Compromise.

Pre election Key said if you don't vote for us Northland gets nothing, Osborne has said similar since. Bullying, arrogant, pricks much?
Oh, the bridge carrot has been part of the Regional development plan for years, re-inventing it for an election is typical Nat smoke & mirrors. They lost because they don't give a toss about this region.

That's because they're so loyal to National that they vote Act . So much for thinking for yourself.

Best of a not particularly good lot, imho.

Winnie may well be a spanner in the works, but at least he is there. If in any doubt, think what would have happened (continue to happen) had National held the seat.

Labour will have spoken with Winnie - hence the unspoken(?) support for him. Feel a bit sorry for their candidate, but she'll be remembered in the party and could well get something later.

The object of the exercise was to get National out of the seat. That's worked. What happens next will be interesting.

Indeed. On the bright side, if nothing happens then it's situation normal.

    For those with short memories
Mentioned in the article is the other person the former all Black (always protected from being named even though his victim fought for him to be named) was also a former National MP.

out of curiosity, what is not good for northland? that winston won instead of the hostage called Osborne? Or that Mike Sabin had to resign for 'personal reasons'? Or that National run Mike Sabin despite knowning that he had 'personal issues' costing us a by election less then 5 month after the general election? or that Winston won after National held the seat for 50 odd years, and now the sky will come falling down on the Northlanders cause National was so good to them in the last 50 years, all those double laned bridges, good jobs, rock star economy, affordable houses ,and their good on business large and small nous?

Really, what is not good for Northland?

Winston is coming to the end of his career, Willow Jean Prime is at the beginning of her career. She will be good and well looked after come 2017. This is but the beginning for her.

As for the bridges, National literally can not NOT build the bridges....cause they will neve live down the NOT building of the bridges. Fucked either way they are.
