    250 Hornet 'knocking'?

Hi all, went for a great ride today around Whitford to Maraetai through Clevedon etc. On the motorway home, I noticed a faint but consistent knocking when I accelerated. It seems more noticeable at these higher revs. It is a 96' Honda Hornet 250. The knock is not loud, seems to be consistent tempo and sounds like it echoes a bit. I can't really feel it through the bike just hear it.

Is it safe/smart to go for another long ride this weekend? Looking forward to a group ride on Monday...

I have booked the bike in to a mechanic next Thursday, it's my daily driver but only a short trip to work, 50kms. Had a full service from George at Motorcycle Doctors only about 1000kms ago, otherwise is running great. Cheers!

It all depends, if it's rod knock/run bottom end bearings it may not last long at all. Hard to say without hearing it though.

    you got slappers? or knockers?

the first step to overcoming a problem... is finding out what the fuck it is.

but, being a homoda, you fix it, and you get to do all that for the next decade.

Drill a few holes in the exhaust so you can't hear the knock.

But ... keep on riding it.

    Excuse the noob

Please excuse my ignorance, but what are knockers/slappers? Have heard of tank slapping before but generally in reference to issues with front forks causing the handlebars to 'slap the tank'. Cheers

How about you let the other riders know your bike is about to shit itself and sit at the back so when it does you dont hurt other people.

Good Advice this! It may not., but if it did it'll leave a puddle and any poor sod hitting that will instantly go tits up.
