Where's a cop when ya need one?

At Rangariri as it turned out...

Sunday last, Lilfox and myself are coming back from d'Auckland, on the southern motorway. Driving in her car.

Some crazy dude comes roaring up behind through the traffic, weaving and swerving through everyone, riding the line dividing lines etc - you get the picture. I blasted the horn at him and flashed the headlights - I am never disturbed by loony drivers y'know...

Says herself "Where's a cop when ya need one?"

As I said, at Rangariri. We eventually got there and sure nuff, there on the side of the road, is the disco mobile with the same dude pulled over getting the treatment. Says she "HARHARHARHAR!"

I restrained myself - just honked the horn again and waved out...

Funny - this is the second time I have had that happen. On the same road too.

Judging by how often the wire rope poles are flattened, I'd say it's still a bad spot, just not as deadly now would be my guess.

Too many road cones. to crash. Also it's harder to crash because they've put a lower temporary speed limit on.

had an unoffcial conversation while doing official business with an officer on that stretch myself a while back

Apparently even on a quiet day there can be 2-3 cars and a couple of cameras between pokeno and Huntly. I will never ride that bit of road on a bike again.

Never rode it in the 5 yrs before I moved across the ditch - except once, just after the wires had gone in - rarked it up for the cop coming the other way...who couldn't do a U-turn and follow......

Sounds quiet. One day leaving HD, 4 cars at the interchange alone... no donut van in sight?

Couple weeks ago coming back from bike park catch up to car towing another car (isn't that illegal now) on Napier-Wairoa road into Bayview.

Looks ugly as the tow rope is very short and the towed driver is very anxious and all over the show even though they only doing 70-80 in 100 zone.
I can't be arsed *555ing these days and figure they'll be dead before there's a cop when you need one so resort to dropping back and following with about 6 second distance.
I then notice a cop in mirrors several cars behind me, surely he can see, is he blind???? Several km's later around a sweeping bend he finally gets an eyeball of the mobile circus and the disco lights come on along with a rocket ship approach along the median strip, nailed...

One other occasion a car overtook my b-train after passing lane ended and door handled the wire rope barrier spraying stones everywhere, I look in the mirror and hell another prick wants to have a go... except he had party lights on the dashboard... let him past and pulls offending car over. Cop soon catches up and passes me, looks like four detectives, judging by lack of time spent they prob just gave a verbal...
