    Refreshing plastics?

    Hi all,

I want to paint the plastics on my KLR however the front guard and headlight shroud has some gouges and scratches, like 2 or 3mm deep at some points.

How can I repair the damage?
Any tips for painting plastics eg any special prep I need? Primer? Etc

    Thanks

I'm going through this with my Gen II KLR. PITA so far, if the plastic was cheaper I'd just buy new. Buts its way overpriced so, peel off the decals clean up the adhesive residue, prime, sand smooth, prime, find all the pits and scratches that were missed, fill, sand, prime, (fsp) repeat as often as necessary, a few coats of finish colour, find more missed bits, fsp again, finally get it right, more top coats, clear coat. Not going to put the standard decals on as they start at about $60 and up

Or I could have just said, "fuck it, its a KLR". I'll probably drop it first time out anyway.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

Yeah I am not looking forward to going through the whole process like that! Not even sure what colour scheme to do, just want the green gone! Also I have a brown seat, can I paint it with anything?

Check out this video I came across: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7AbneccV6w

Anyone done it using a heat gun? How long does it last?
