In a slighty aero-erotic way, it appears that Mr Typhoon is going to give Mr Spitfire a rather nasty surprise.
(Is that a rather large munition under your fuselage or are you just pleased to see me?)

bloody typhoon drowns out teh Merlin!
Interesting factoid....mk1 spitfire had about 750 horsepower in 1939.Mk 15? had about 2000 hp from the 36 litre griffon V12!RR always delivered more horsepower when required esp when the FW 190(BMW power) threatened to rule the roost

It always amazes me that for a production run of over 3000 units there are no flying examples of the original Typhoon anywhere in the world.

And I believe the only static display example is in the Hendon museum.

No. It's in Canadia land, on loan for a few years.

Where is a rich bastard when you need 'em....

I had a Typhoon as a kid...An Airfix model in the size up from 1/72 (1/36?)
Scrimped & saved my milk run money for months to get it & the paints.....it didn't last to long though as my fucking 3 year old sister got hold of it & wrecked it. I knew from that point on that she was going to be a bitch....& still is.

Airfix have also just recently released a 1:24 scale model of the Typhoon.

From what I've seen it's incredibly detailed.

It most certainly is! I've seen one being built, in the flesh, and it would keep a serious modeler occupied for months.
They are re-releasing their Mossie in that scale later this year, and that is a masterpiece.
The only disadvantage is displaying something of that size.

The wings on the Spittie look a bit squared off? ( compared to my 1/76 Airfix kit one)

Apparently the later models had clipped wings for low altitude work and to make rolls quicker.
