I dunno - I've met a few high profile pollies over the years. From what I could tell not one of them ever got into politics for the money. They all seemed pretty well motivated but then again I may just be easily impressed. While I agree that they do seem to get plenty of increases (cant remember the last decent pay rise we got in this industry or my wife for that matter) and the pay is good - the hours are horrendous and the stress levels high.
There are a few just in it for the power trip and some - well its just what they were born to do...
Still - stealing bikes is stealing bikes and its a shit thing...

Agreed. He earned his money through doing the hard yards. Very little sleep and tons of stress. I certainly wouldn't want their job.
