Cell phone holders?

I had no end of trouble with the 'touch capable' cover and my Sony phone too, might be the same issue.

Don't really use it to access the phone or web, just to protect it from the elements, with no blue tooth needed visual directions from the GPS (never been to most places)

Got caught out as the phone cable didn't fit when inserted into phone, made a 'mod' then that's OK

It's no different from a GPS holder.

Real bikers don't use GPS ... only those who want to know where they'll end up, ultimately you'll get there GPS or not, difference being, you get to see more without technology.

Well I only ever use mine as a street directory around town really, beats the A5 spiral bound thing I used to use. I'm not sure you would eventually find your way out if you were lost in Auckland, actually...maybe that's why so many of us are stuck here?

its an aid, not a necessity. helpful when you dont have a map or any idea of where you are (off road) and fuel is running low, and your out of cell phone coverage on your own.

On the main highways no real need unless your unfamiliar with the area/territory you are in.

much like extra fuel on long trips into the wilderness aye - can be handy when your in the shit

People who drive badly while using their phone do so because they're bad drivers. They'd find something else to fuck with if they didn't have a phone to hand. Or just daydream.

agree with this, i was at an accident not to long ago as a vollunteer firefighter, we had to close the road but in order to do so had to go about 6km away from accident scene so no big red engine, only portable red flashing light and accident sign with my car parked on side of road with hazards going and me waving a torch (it was at night and dark), dickhead talking on phone nearly took me out as he went past red flashing light and accident sign without slowing down, think he got a surprise when he got to accident scene and got balled out by the police and made to turn around and come back to appologise and take the detour, not long after that another cop turned up and left his car parked across road with disco lights going and we still had people trying to go round and one woman must have been on a really important call because her phone got thrown on to the seat when she was only bout 20 feet away from us, flash of light going from her ear down to the passenger seat kinda gave it away.

My cellphone lives in my Ventura bag .. I don't really use it much ... just to let the wife know I'm still alive if I'm out overnite ..

That must be valid advice, still works for me. Maybe it's because I see time on the bike as "time incommunicado" then?

Ram mounts have a great rep but I got a cheap one off aliexpress.com that did the same job for about $15.
Unless you have gloves that work with touch screens I found it a waste of time, plus I wanted to use the radio drive app without cords in the way.

I have a Ram mount and aquabox - fitted my old iPhone 4 and also takes a 5. Generally good but if you open it when it is drizzling and any moisture gets inside it will fog over when you close again. I used it when I was using the Tomtom ap on my phone trying to find my way around odd places like Auckland and Christchurch. Can also plug in headphones to listen for texts/calls or listen to music and close the cover on the cable - eventually probably break the cable but seemed to work okay. I haven't mounted on my Hornet as yet as I need to add a 12v outlet for charging.

I have the claw and the AquaBox. The aquabox has a place underneath for you to take your USB cable out. I also have a 15$ USB charger, which has a clock faceplate to keep it dry (and tell me the time).

As I say, it has the ability to set tolerances, which is very handy because they change colour, and you dont have to look at it to know what speed you're doing.
It also tells you how far, what direction, what max/avg speed, and you can use nav with it as well (it uses google).

Has anyone tried a wireless charging holder? I couldn't find one for my phone at the time but it would eliminate a bit of the cable hassles I thought
