    Clutch dragging when hot

I rebuilt the engine and gearbox on my '98 CR250 after it snagged a ring.
Now the clutch drags when it gets hot, to the point it nearly stalls when stationary in 1st gear with the clutch pulled all the way in and cant shift up to neutral.
I can adjust the clutch cable to fix it when its hot but when it cools down I need to readjust it again to get a small amount of play back.
any idea whats causing this/how to fix it?

    Cheers.

I should mension I checked the discs and they still measure as new ~3.05mm and the plates are not warped (2 are around 0.1mm, spec is < 0.2) and I didn't have this issue before I split the crankcase to replace the bearings and seals with the same clutch.
    Thanks for any help.
