I need some advice on pain management

    Hi all

Was hoping some of my fellow aging/crippled Kbers could give me some advice on pain management

Im kinda...struggling presently, the body is starting to really hurt from many years of stupidity/abuse and repeat drunk drivers trying to hump me while riding.
I have two shot knees, blown shoulder, collapsed neck, lower back problems and nerve damage in my left arm, to name just a few issues(yes!, I have a few "issues"....ya bastards!)...and every winter the pain gets worse!

Last winter was hell!, barely able to walk with out pain, struggling to ride long distance with out constant stops to ease the pain and locked knees etc and generally aching constantly.

My Charlotte is hounding me to go to the Docs again...but last time they wanted to throw me into surgury for a shoulder AC rebuild! (And these usually DONT work out too well)...the knees, ACC have shafted me on (waited 8yrs for surgery on both...got key hole on one and told to shove off basically)

So can anyone share there thoughts or recommendations please...anyone else on pain management on here?...and the biggy, will I still be able to still do my job and have a converstaion etc with out drooling and being in lala land while on meds etc (Pills kick my arse!...hate em!...but if I have too...i will take them)

Im bloody dreading this winter...the body is already struggling with the cooler weather...So any advice would be friggin awesome

(Yeah yeah, Asking Kbers before Doctors?...WTF am I thinking!)

Ketamine. No you won't be interested in talking much but that's overrated anyway... you may sing quietly to yourself instead.

Might be easier to list what's not fawked on you

I wear those el cheapo neoprene braces or even just some thick slip over bandages on my shitty knees on long winter rides to keep em warm, sleeping sometimes too. Locked knees are fun when you come to stick your leg out at a stop eh!

You can get wireless heated thermals that you control with your phone as well (for skiing originally, so not cumbersome). Don't need those yet myself but they would be well more effective than the plug in ones, so long as you remember to charge them

Hahaha, I was going to suggest having a few of the critters in the image (which I deleted before Hitcher gets me again for forgetting to delete embedded images) to sit on you in strategically placed position and purr and sing to you. Let their feline vibrations do their healing work (and can give you a free acupuncture session while they're at it if they are feeling particularly loving towards you).

I use not pain killers ... but anti - Inflamitory medication.

It won't cure the problems .. but will help.

How are you sleeping ? The shoulder, neck and lower back problems may well make a bed bloody uncomfortable. Lying on the shoulder wouldn't help either..

For many years I've had back problems but for the last couple of years i've slept in a chair. Yes it reclines but often i have it upright - much to our cats displeasure princess...Being in a chair can help quite a bit in my experience.

I'd also recommend seeing your GP as not all reconstructive surgery is ACC. If it's bad enough they will eventually do it.
