    Grossing - deplorable MP

This is deplorable from one of our supposedly senior MPs .. Tim Groser ...he's becoming a joke in Washington ..

The Labour Party today accused him in Parliament of insulting Canadian diplomats by comparing the country's dairy industry to the Soviet Union.

Trade spokesman David Parker cited a scathing article by an American policy analyst, which said Mr Groser's behaviour had led to a new slang term in Washington: "Grossing".

The article said the Canadian Embassy in Washington was "privately bristling" at the minister's "counter-productive, undiplomatic sledging".

Immediately after noting the critical importance of Canada in concluding the TPP, Mr. Groser provocatively slammed its dairy industry as belonging “.. in the former Soviet Union.” Such incendiary public fighting words clearly do nothing to assist Canadian diplomats help N.Z. help itself.

More recently on 19 April, L . Ian MacDonald, a distinguished Canadian policy guru -- who previously served in the Canada's Washington Embassy -- while not disagreeing with the need for reform of Canada’s agricultural sector, observed that Mr. Grosser’s public statements come in an election year, where the chances of “.. the Canadian government, any Canadian government.." agreeing to end supply management was: "Zero. Zilch. Nada.” Ouch!!

With new urban slang terms like ‘quaxing’ entering the Kiwi lexicon daily, a person close to the Canadian embassy shared that the term for 'counterproductive undiplomatic sledging’ swiftly getting legs in D.C. : “grossing.”

And how about this one? Groser believes Treasury should hide the true cost of failing to control pollution ...

    http://www.greenpeace.org/new-zealan...ge/blog/52922/

From Hansard - the official record of Parliamentary proceedings ..

Dr Russel Norman : In light of that answer, what exactly did Treasury get wrong when it said in this paper that the cost to the Government of not cutting our greenhouse gas emissions was up to $52 billion—as Treasury said in this paper?

Hon TIM GROSER : I think what Treasury got wrong was that it did not use sufficiently sophisticated software to conceal the redacted information.

Groser thinks hiding things like this from voters and taxpayers is a good thing??

Maybe the conspiracy theorists are right after all ...
