    Please help

    My bike is making a lot of knocking sound from the engine. I believe it happen because of overheating of the engine. The scratch in the block would explain the knocking sound. Can i put a suzuki bandit 250 GJ74A (old model) into the new bandit 250 GJ77A????

    Engine is knocking..... Time for a new engine.

    Is it beyond repair? Cam chain tension is good? What's the oil look like when you drain it? Valve clearances within specs?

    GJ74A and GJ77A frames aren't the same, engine mounts in slightly different locations. Different carbs and airbox, no idea about ignition (CDI) and things like sprocket offsets.

    Helps if you describe the sound, under what conditions it occurs, roughly where it's coming from. And maybe do a bit of basic legwork like checking your oil levels/condition, coolant, plug condition etc. before making a thread, jumping to wild conclusions and considering engine swaps?

    PS: what makes you think it's overheating and what is the "scratch in the block"?

    hmmm..
    i open up the head and block, the cam chain is still good..tensioner looks okay..theres definitely a scratch in the block on the 2nd cylinder.

    If i rebore it, it has to be all 4 + 4 new piston set & rings & top set gasket ..

    I think it be easier to change the whole engine with a used one.

    If i go with the reboring
    * top set gasket = 300nzd
    * rebore = 250nzd
    * pistons set = 70nzd

    anybody knows a bike wrecker with a bandit engine?
