    Hi

Please find this years entry form to the Southern Rider Escapade on the link below. This year will be our 7th year doing it.

We are wishing to get the support of various motorcycle clubs to advertise the event in their newsletters and websites.

The Escapade is a bike road rally with a slight difference. You are given a route to take, and a long this route you must answer questions that are given on a question sheet. You then return the question sheet with your answers, and your badge is sent out to you after the close off date for completing the Escapade.

The dates are not set in stone for a weekend that you do it on. You have from 1 September till 30th November, a period of 3 months to complete. You can do it in your own time, by yourself or with a group. You can do it in one day go or a couple of days and make it a holiday away. You can do it in any order you like as long as you get all the questions. You can start the loop any where and finish anywhere.

    The important things are;

    • You must get as many of the answers as you can. (Don't be too worried about getting a question wrong or missing one…)
    • You must have fun doing it.

Entry form can be found and downloaded here

Can you give me a rough clue what the distance is from the evil flatlands of christchurch and the closest point on the loop?

Always keen to go ecapading, but if there's a days commuting in each direction to the route the logistics get much harder.....
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

    Thumbs up Done

Three bikes left Chch 9am last Wednesday in fine warm weather and started the route in Omarama. Got to Wanaka that night.

Next day over Crown Range and down to Te Anau/Manapouri. Patches of rain and some hail through the day with snow nearby. Still good riding and great views.

Left Manapouri with 2 of three bikes needing fuel soon (forward planning??) One tore off up to Borland Lodge (though didn't need to) another to Tuatapere for fuel so all seperated!! Borland Lodge runner really needed fuel by Ohai but coal seemed the only option. Managed the 7km to Nightcaps (which used to have coal! and now you can buy a house and section for $15k). Rode east to Mataura, somewhat strong winds between Wyndham (who would have guessed) and Fortrose. Up the Catlins to again seperate at Balclutha with one bike missing the stop and continuing North. Stopped the night at Brighton. Bike three arrived a 7pm. Wet for some of the day and still cold but good ride.

One bike decides to stay in Dunners so two complete the route and stay the night in Mt Cook - stunning, clear and calm.

Great ride home yesterday in spectacular crisp weather.

Thanks are due to the organisers of this ride. Well planned and explained without extra to read while trying to navigate. Found most attractions and had a great time.
I have just found out that they have removed the word gullible from the dictionary

Badges were sent out on Monday sorry for the delay... the badge maker was busy Xmas rush etc...

I still have not found who the received answers are from with no name and who they belong to...(badge is attached to it ready and waiting to hear from you). I am guessing I will get an angry email in the near future saying where is my badge
