really? what price would i be looking at for a 'good' quality equivalent?
Or they just missed out on a few of the markups on the way through.
Why such a negative and cynical comment? My preoccupation is quality first and foremost and there is no way that 2 main seals and 2 dust seals at that price are going to be good quality, as they are trying to mislead people into believing. Normally good quality seals only ( not incl dust seals )that also dont dramatically increase friction would be around $40 for a pair
Arguably ''quality'' is one of the most blatantly mis-used words in the English and many other languages.
May also the Lord strike down anyway whoever dares to make a profit, however miniscule.

In my experience most owners of 250cc motorcycles do so because they are learners, not by choice.
To this end they are intent on trading up to a "real"bike as soon as they can burn their L plates, and as such try and spend as little cash as possible on their ride.
As for quality,I fully accept your argument as in price vs performance, but I venture in this case the owner of 250 Bandit cares little as long as he gets a WOF on his machine until the big day when he can trade up to a GSXRYZFZZRCBR whatever the hell.
Give him the choice between price and performance and he will choose to have leftover cheeseburger money every time.
Oh and by the way,the fork seals of the GSF400 and GSF250 are the same,41mm forks.

I agree with Gammaguy, but, I'll throw this one in the works.
Is a reasonably inexperienced rider going to notice, let alone benefit from more expensive seals? I vote no.
The archaic suspension on them is shit anyway, but it's perfectly adequate for the average rider, I don't see most people running in to issues.
On my VT250 I went through three different sets of seals (lots of KM, not a cheap seal issue) and I never noticed the difference between the all balls or Versah seals, however, fluid weight and small spacers in the forks did improve her immensely. All the seals lasted 40,000 ish km, they got done once a year.
In fact the two brands you mentioned are very similiar in the amount of friction they have.
My philosophy is near enough is actually not good enough, I make no apologies for that and think the world would be a better place if we all collectrively had less tolerance of substandard parts and service
Hello Folks, just reading this post regarding fork oil seals, first of all i can appreciate both sides of the debate. We are also well aware there are terrible fork seals out there, however, just because Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki or Yamaha charge $40 - $50 for a pair of oil seals does not mean they are better than aftermarket seals like ours. In fact we will guarantee our seals will outlast any OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer's) seal (full exchange or refund if they dont) and over the past 25 years we have gone from selling standard seals to most of our seals now being Triple lipped/double sprung seals. All of our Dust seals are NOK OEM. We have been selling fork oil seals and other products worldwide for over 25 years, we could (as many people do) add on 75% markup for our Kiwi Customers (just because you are in New Zealand) but don't. We sell these seals for the same price as we sell them in the UK, Europe, and USA. Yes compared to what you would pay walking into your local Suzuki dealer they are cheaper, but as for the quality they are equal or better to OEM. Most bikers know that the major bike Manufacturers have been ripping customers for too long.
