    or. Arch.

But if you want WINDOWS without some stuff, yeah, that's one option im sure..
I spend a good half hour, maybe more, on a "clean" windows install removing bloatware , hacking the registry to get a mouse that doesn't feel like a drunk retard is interpreting it (seriously does ANYONE have a trackballed serial mouse and anymore??), the visual settings to be less fucking annoying, and generally doing my level best not to just put the fucking pc in the washing machine on spin.

thanks for asking, microsoft! Of course i want fucking pinball installed on a hundred computers in an office!
(i dont do this, thats what images are for, and that would be silly.)

MS has moved on from that. Now admins have had hundreds/thousands of computers all downloading Win10.... in case all the staff wanted it...

well, obviously. Anyone running a windows network isnt smart enough to deploy an os "upgrade"...
    And bandwidth is cheap, eh.

I didn't mind 8.1 so much 10 is definitely an improvement - the bandwidth monitoring is quite handy. Been using PuTTY for SSH and Telnet for a long time quite handy as it stores all the connection settings. Hate office 2013/16 just too much white on screen- Outlook 2016 won't connect to older exchange servers- I didn't get any pop up advising of this - just a broken Outlook installation.

Stability of Windows has come a long way, got regular images of drives bit I can't remember the last time I had to do a clean install or had a computer crash for anything other than a hardware error. Or virus for that matter.

or, apparently, manage a centralised internal upgrade server.

I can't imagine there are many networks running with only Windows machines. Would think most have a mix of Mac, Windows and Linux.

This document is your friend: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/...hg.150%29.aspx

Look under operating systems and clients for the two key pieces.

Most of the networks we maintain are exclusively Windows. The bigger ones usually have more Win2000 stuff, the smaller newer ones don't have so much legacy stuff.

Did you install 10 as a insitu as they call it? (as in directly over the top of your win7 installation). You cannot do a clean install of 10 and put in your win7 pro key.
Once you have installed over the top of 7, and 10 is running ok, from that point you can do a clean install of 10 from media if the need arises, and the licensing will be fine.

Yup we were moving to hosted IMAP anyway so it wasn't a big deal- just annoying that they deliberately broke outlook 2013/16 to force people to upgrade the exchange server. Could still use the latest Windows mail to connect just not their own office product.

Na Win10 takes the 7 key, I've used 7 keys for other installs of the standard variant & the message is definitely about the variant rather than the key itself.

As of the Nov 2015 update (1156 or some such shit) you can use your Win7/8/8.1 key for Win10 clean install; But regardless of this Win10 won't accept the 7 key due to variant difference.

Urgh, unless you really want hosted IMAP, use hosted exchange. IMAP as a protocol is old, doesn't support full mailbox sync etc etc. Of course I'm looking at from an MS environment, your needs may differ. Simple things like having the same inbox/outbox on all devices etc.

I haven't had any issues with it - just a case of setting up the folders iPhones needed a a tweak so the sent folder matched other than that no dramas. Everything synchs ok- I used myself as the Guinea pig. Got people wanting to log in from i devices, OSX, Samsung, Windows etc... I actually prefer the Cubemail web interface to using Outlook. Simple clear and fast.

    Windows 10

Spent a while this morning doing the business and transferred to the version 10, as was prompted when I logged in. Must be a first of the month thing. April fools joke ?

Different but, no improvement. In fact it's worse. Nothing seems to work as it used to. What a crock of shit.

Have gone back to the trusty V 7.

I got this the other day. Didn't ask for it. Found the slightly hidden option to cancel ... and did just that! Happy with Win7 and will be holding on for as long as is practical.
