i know not of what you speak.

But it sounds oxymoronic. Bash is functional all day long. Hardly something microsoft would implement.

Also, bourne is cli for unix kernel. Windows does not has unix kernel.
Ms dropped cli sensibility since ~xp and implemented it as a 3-layers useless "addon" for the gui.

    Windows is gay as shit.

I dont use sql, so irrelevant for me. Im sure there's a better implementation.

Direct x is the only windows advantage.

    Windows is gay as shit.

I see absolutely no advantage to Win10 for my use

The much touted Cortana is repellent (and still does not work in NZ)

I do not game, so DirectX is not needed

I do not need a new browser - Firefox works brilliantly for me

I do not like the new-style interface

And I absolutely abhor the data-collection and spying Micro$oft insist is necessary

I'll stick with my current XP and Win7 installations for now, and will replace with Unix when I finally have to, thank you very much

you could ubuntu right now. But you sound more like a centos fedora kinda guy.
Or mac. But i think mac is a dying breed, fucken good at it though. Overpriced wankery. os 13 is my pick, for the evolution.

Tried to windows 10 the wife's laptop, seemed ok but the inbuild random number generator killed the wifi every x minutes, back to windows 7 which actually works.

I like windows xp, all of the legacy shit I play with still works, just because it's 5 years old doesn't mean it's not still functional you disposable society wankers.......

I upgraded from XP to 10 just before Christmas.
I don't mind it - I thought it'd be a bigger culture shock than it was - except programs keep crashing...then starting up again.
    Very odd.

closer to 15, and "works" is relative (especially applied against a windows box)
the tech has improved in that time. Raid, sse2, uefi.
Xp can/will not support some shit. Ever.
Not that you need/want this shit supported. But it's nice not to have your os limit your hardware choices.

Nah, the shit I work with is well less than 15 years old, and the software was built to work with XP, anything after that it's as flakey as fuck. And it won't work with linux, and the linux boxes we want to replace we can't make work with newer hardware, so linux is bollocks as well.

The industry I'm in likes things to keep working, and most of the population like it if the things we look after keep working, so we'll stick to off internet xp boxes and reliability.

I have the opposite problem where some of my hardware won't work on 10 because it's too old and there're no new drivers out yet.

You may find that you can't install older OS on newer hardware, especially as the new chipsets come out, support the newer stuff and drop older stuff...

Latest gem I found with Win10... the start menu stops working. Seems common, with no easy fix but several complicated ones. Luckily it wasn't a machine I maintain so I left it... Never had the start menu stop working in older OS... just putting that out there

DemonLord linked to the GWX control panel software to get rid of the Win10 upgrade annoyance. Been putting that everywhere

Running 10 Pro on my newist laptop..seems to work fine. I've disabled most of the auto update and "information" ware and run classic shell set to emulate W7. Most of my old games seem to run...Grand Prix Legends, CFS2, FS9.....
