This covers the pre-installed spyware they have, however they also have seemingly pointless microchips on their motherboards, as well as within their monitors and other peripherals. Not much online about it cos nobody really bothers to look inside their hardware or understand it at a chip by chip level.

try as i may, i cant find c:/ on my system....

to be fair to lenovo, most PC problems start there. getting rid of it is always worthwhile.

since windows is crapware, i cant see how third party (OEM at that) can be much worse.

The Lenovo issue came to light a little while ago.

However, of more concern was the ability of NSA/et al to intercept your server shipment, load a custom BIOS (that appeared OEM) and then let the shipment continue... It enabled them access to the machine right at the root, impossible to detect until you analysed the custom and OEM bios side by side etc.

i believe im correct in saying that this is a UEFI thing (stand to be corrected) and kinda should be taken as read that SOMEONE is, when they implemented the back doors to hardwares as standard.
    "for your convinience" of course.

also, your stupid fault for buying jew-made intel ware. (again, i stand to be corrected)

I wouldn't be too fussed but you could always do an upgrade to activate your system so you always have the option & then just roll back to Win7 until you're ready to move forward... It's not a bad OS [as far as Windows goes] but there are some caveats that go with it, one of the smaller ones being lack of customization (if you're into that) and there is SW that doesn't work with Win10 incl possibly some of your drivers dependent on age of machine & manufacturer support

As Steve said, may as well if only for the licence key. Can always roll-back if you really hate it. I quite like it, and wouldn't go back to 7. Runs better on both my PCs, even if it technically isn't supported for my laptop.
    Yeah, nah.

I prefer Win7. The continuous Win10 updates are going to be interesting. Already software works fine, MS releases (many) updates, and something amongst them breaks software. Then you wait until that gets solved... could be 6+ months.

    Yay

I will qualify that, if you're in a business network, don't fuck with it. Let IT handle it. I have plenty of systems that must not go onto Win10 as software simply won't work.

Wife's laptop is running W7. When starting up or closing down, It sometimes goes to the windows start up screen and a message comes up.

    'Failure configuring windows update
Reverting changes, do not turn off computer.'

This screen and message seems to freeze everything and I can't bypass this using any of the keyboard keys.

Is there a way of shutting down these auto updates?. I presume that's what is bring up this page. The laptop is not usable untill the laptop sorts itself out.

For the sicko's, pics of the wife's tits will only be posted if I can cure this problem.
This is a pretty good step-by step guide to resolving the issue: https://www.404techsupport.com/2016/...loop-windows7/ . Awaiting said pics.

Explain why you list your location as Sydney, but your IP address locates you in Miami USA?
Everyone else take this member's post with caution until a suitable explanation is given.

Some Anti-Virus programs can list you location as somewhere you're not.

Not really what I'm using or have available to me as a mod, but VPNs would do that.

@Gremlin I'm a U.S. expat. I'm currently in the U.S. on business. If my profile location is meant to reflect my current location as opposed to place of residence, I can update it.

Also I can copy and paste the relevant content from the page that I linked to, if the link is an issue somehow. Not sure what the problem is tbh.
