I only just read that and Stoner rode off on his demo. Waving to the crowd at bugger-all above walking speed, you don't need a $300,000 bike to do that. All he needed was one of those electric push bikes they have in the pits.

If that's all he did that's bloody pathetic. Dunno why he even bothered with leathers.

Apart from the posts on here, the only figure I've seen quoted is 220HP which is about what I would have expected. It'd need to be between the best production bikes and a GP bike. Apparently the cams are gear driven but the valves have springs instead of being pneumatically operated. It doesn't have a seamless gearbox but that would have been a bit much to expect.

The "sports kit" is for track day use. I'm still waiting to read an intelligent description of the bike by one of the experts. Apparently Honda handed out a flash brochure for the launch. Hopefully someone qualified will read it and tell us about the bike. Not that I'm buying one.

Not to you or to me but there are those who would think it is and who can afford it. Well, Honda hope there are.

Indeed it is,always have chuckle at people leaping about in disgust re horsepower the fact that someone with ability on something with 1/2 the horsepower on a road that mattered would leave them red faced seems to escape them, thank god for full faced helmets eh....

Went in this morning for the dyno day and BP had the NR in the workshop so snapped a couple of shots for you while waiting for things to get underway
Noticed there's a CX500 Turbo sitting beside the RC45 now out in the showroom too

The NR was about 100 grand and no one bitched about that at the time because those that can afford such exotica don't care when it would be like a decimal point of their bank balance. 300 grand for a bike like the RC213V-S is cheap compared to buying a car like the Buggatti Veyron for example and the guy that has one of those is just as likely to buy the RC with change.

There are people like Jay Leno with huge collections worth millions. They don't care that "poor" people complain about price.

Its like walking into the flash shops of Rodeo drive and saying damn that pair of designer jeans is not worth a couple of grand when you can buy jeans at Warehouse in NZ for $29.99, but to the rich guy to put his hot girlfriend in them with the right label is no problem to him.
    Cheers

    Merv
