    Grumpy Motorcycle Police in Christchurch?

Was somebody having a bad day or was this guy in the middle of the road? Should the tourists have been ticketed or was the cop right?

    Interesting.

I remember a debate between Myself and Bogan about Claiming the Lane, it seems the Chch Police take the same line that I do (there is no legal right to claim the lane)

Would be interesting to see if it goes to Court, as there could well be a legal precedent set.

Admitedly, I didn't read it all, I re-read it and now feel like a bit of a Knob.

Except that it does somewhat prove my arguement in another thread

How hard is it to overtake a cyclist going at 20kph? But then it's a different story if they were going down hill.

Surprised the Asians weren't ticketed for "dangerous/ careless driving" trying to overtake on a blind corner.

Pretty much every time I ride/drive be that road there is some self righteous Lycra warrior making it impossible for traffic to get past. That road isn't safe for cyclists so fuck everyone of them that feels it's their right to impede traffic and create dangerous situations for other road users.

Having that many cameras attached to their vehicle tells you all you need to know about Mr LookAtMe. When it's pointing at your ball sack, you can't even plead it's there to record dangerous drivers. Maybe they're just for the interview and supplied by the reporter, but by the sound of him it's not.

My 1st thought was "Good" but reading the article it came across the Asian's should have been done not the deadly peadly. But then to make informed decision guess we'd need the other view

    One point to note.

The surname of the author of the article is the same as the cyclists surname.

Conflict of interest? I suspect so.

It also appears that the journo heard one side of the story and didn't bother to seek out the other side. Investigative journalism at its best.

Yeah, your right to get to your destination 2.5 minutes earlier is much more important than a cyclists ride to stay alive.

The fact that this happens to you "pretty much every time" you use the road, you'd think by now you'd allow a few extra minutes and just chill the fuck out. But obviously you're just not very smart.
