Conflict of interest? I suspect so.

It also appears that the journo heard one side of the story and didn't bother to seek out the other side. Investigative journalism at its best.
There's a disclosure at the bottom of the article - your inability to read is probably why instead of getting a real job you've just sucked the government tit for so long.

I used to drive this road twice a day nd the Lycra louts dont get any simpathy from this road user.

I witnessed this unfold http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/new...clist-attacked and did speak to the rozza about the cyclists who was doing a mobile road block until an old couple finally got past him. Unprovoked my ass. In this case the lout got owned by a old man.

I just wish more mobile chicanes were being ticketed & reported. If cyclists choose to regularly ride roads knowing that at times they will hold up traffic then their will be consequences at some point. Sods law.

I have nuttin against saddle chafers just inconsiderate or oblivious road hogs in general.

The pedlars should take a leaf out of our book, anticipate and avoid potentially hazardous situations. Their skin is on the line, too.

Whats the speed limit on that road? Be buggered if you would catch me risking being closely overtaken by huge big metal things with no escape route as I wobbled up a hill. I would buy an exercycle.

We have a legal right they say. Fair enough, but putting your life into somebody else's hands.... Hmmmmmmm. Not my cup of milo.

I've also noticed that vehicles with bikes hanging off the back obscuring the number plate and often rear view mirror are generally driven badly.
    Just sayin.

    bang on!...it wasn't!

And out all the people I trust for accurate information and honest truth...Rastuscat is at the top of a very short list!

Ignorance of the law and lack of defensive riding skills is the core problem with this cyclist...defending him just makes no sense at all...he's in the wrong as proven by a well respected ChCh popo, and a court!

...fuck em!, cyclist needs an attitude adjustment and some defensive rider training!...before his poorly chosen actions on the road gets himself killed!

Hopefully their footage is providing plenty of mirth to their friends.

...not far from that hill is a winding road at the base of the hill...a sign actually warns cyclists to use another route due to the dangers of being hit by trucks...what do the knobsucks do?...yes , you guessed right, and usually three to four abreast...if they wanna die, let 'em...

Dead right. I too used to ride this road twice a day and Mr gaynor, take note, only by knowing it well am i alive now. It's a bastard of a road and mobile chicanes should be ticketed as safety hazards. Doing it in a truck is even worse as keeping up momentum is essential...getting balked at a crucial moment could have serious consequences.

BUT a bigger problem on the same road is descending cyclists who think it's a stage on the TdF...i recently saw an editorial in a motoring mag whose editor uses that road daily. He claimed to have the opportunity to kill at least one cyclist daily, simply by brake testing them. Hadn't done it as he couldn't spare the time in court. i know myself that the bastards are mad...would you, on a well braked motorcycle, sit less than a meter from someone's bumper at 50 - 60 k on a steep downhill ? They're doing it in groups on poorly braked pushies...When it does happen, as it will, I'm assuming the cyclists will want the book thrown at the car driver who braked...

If thats not dangerous enough why no try riding on the wrong side of the road in the middle of a blind corner.

Wasn't there when I read it at 1000 either. Still, good to hear that they aren't related. It gives the story 1% of credibility.
