    WR450 fucked gearbox?

Started up the 450 today to have some fun and headed off down lane 1st great 2nd great hit 3dr and there was a stutter then the bike locked up and stalled.

Pulled clutch in and the engine would turn over with starter but the sprocket shaft is jammed.

Rocked bike back and forth and it came free so started up and gingerly took of 1st 2nd fine 3rd same thing locked after a stutter.
Any ideas what is wrong (stripped teeth?) and how hard is it to pull these things apart without the proper tools the workshop manual says?.

Tough to answer without pulling it apart.

Could be the selectors are letting it hook two cogs at once, and that'll do it. Missing teeth on a gear can do it, when the brocken bits jam in there. But it wouldn't do that in the same way twice.

I did try hoocking twice on the gear lever to go from 2nd to 4th and had no problems.

Even if its the selectors it still needs the cases split though right?.

Take the clutch cover off and check the selector ratchet first. There might be a circlip off.

    Ok will look at that.

If I put in third and rock backwards it turns the motor over but at one point it clicks and moves backwards about 3inches and then catches and starts turning the motor again.

That would be my thoughts ...

Try sticking it in third (not with the engine turning over) and seeing what you can/can't do ...

But (in my humble opinion) ... being able to select (go from) 2nd to 4th (especially) with a double hook) ... it would seem it's not be a selecter issue.

I saw that later .. my guess missing teeth on third .. but I originally thought it might be a bearing gone.
