Big crash for Stoner, rider OK but bike apparently munted. No three in a row for VanDerMark

Certainly looks weird like he made no real attempt to lean around the corner and just ran off on to the grass.

Stuck throttle does explain the weird line he took into the corner.

Casey Stoner’s return to competitive motorcycle racing has lasted less than fifteen minutes, after he ran wide and crashed out at Degnar just minutes into his first run on the MuSHASi RT Honda bike
Taking over from 2014 winner Takumi Takahashi, the team were leading the race when Stoner had his high speed fall on the exit of Degnar 2.
Unsettling the front wheel on a bump, he let off the brakes to save a crash, but in the process ran wide onto the grass on the exit.

if you look at the video at first 1-2 seconds you can see the bump and wiggle. in the original video
    or at 17 secs here.

Fractures to the right shoulder blade and left tibia. "Rider OK " seems a tad optimistic now? Don't be fooled by the smile, that may be a pain killer assisted smile.

If he was thinking of a wild card at Phillip Island this may have changed his mind.

Ah yes. I was going to write an "I told you so" type message about Smith but I try to limit those and I already delivered one to someone else today so...

Afterthought: On looking at the video of Stoner's bin again, after seeing yet another pundit point out you can hear the rev limiter working. I'm not surprised the thing is at maximum revs, if I was about to crash into a wall with a stuck throttle I'd probably at least consider pulling the clutch in. Here's hoping I don't have to face that situation though.

Bradleys series of blogs from Suzuka

    Really outstanding stuff.
He is really rising to the top of his game, on and off the circuit.
