    Aircraft geekery

You know when you visit someone and they've got really cool old stuff stashed at the back of their shed?

They're the conservation sheds at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford, which is about ten minutes down the road from my old Man's place. They're currently refitting the main display hall for their American collection, so they've got stuff stashed all over the place - what you can't quite see beyond the SR is a U2, and that thing poking into frame in the A10 photo is the tail of an F-15 Strike Eagle.

Edit: you missed the Lockheed P-80...which (editing the edit) is actually a T-33

A few more typical "museum shots"

    Ahhhhh

Duxford - I was hoping this was somewhere in NZ.

When I was young and lived in the UK, we flew a Robin into Duxford to visit it, we got to park our Robin next to the Sally B (the B17) - Good times. I will go back at some point.

Fantastic place ! When we were there on a non-air show day, we saw a WW2 P47 Thunderbolt fighter come whistling over the hedgerows, then land. Crikey, they're big mothers. No wonder the pilots used to say the way to take evasive action was to undo the harness and run round the cockpit!

Edit: The TSR-2 in one of your photos used to be at my old university - Cranfield, which was originally an aeronautical college. Just 2 of them left.

Nice stuff. We're taking the grandaughters to the Wigram Air Force Museum in a few weeks.

Merlin engined too. Check the Battle of Britain movie and have a giggle at the Merlin powered 109s and He-111s battling with Merlin powered Spits and Hurricanes (as well as some Griffon powered Spits, because, you know old chap, the public are really quite dim when it comes to detail like that).
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
