Smell is chemical.
Touch is to do with electrostatic repulsion.
Taste is also chemical.
And yet, you a correct, without the vibration of heat none of the above would be possible. At absolute zero all things would vanish if it weren't for quantum affects.

Photons are "particles" of light. In some ways they act like waves and in other ways they act like particles. For example, take a single photon and send it towards a pair of slits. Out the other side you get an interference pattern that no particle could produce. On the other hand the photo electric effect relies on the fact that photons act like particles. Solar panels wouldn't work otherwise.
