You're misunderstanding. Original means manufactured for the bike at time of manufacture as original equipment. Modify means changing the original bike not individual components.

You modifying the pipe isn't what we're talking about. If you've changed the exhaust from the original and the above rules are breached, then it's not LAMS compliant.

If you get the right officer, that does know what they're talking about (and amazingly, some ride!) then the outcome would be quite easy...

Naa ... see I think Imdying's point is that the testing people will enforce it - so whoever you sell it to may well get trapped by that .. and then the comeback is on you.

The licence testing twits are cops .. and they often would not know shit about bikes ...(with a defferential nod to the cops on KBer .. who do know shit about bikes ...) .. so they let you sit the licence because they THINK the bike is LAMS compliant ... but their ignorance is not your excuse ...

The sort of cunts looking for a bike like that on their learners probably have to pour all of their hard earned savings into it, or tick themselves up to the hilt. They ain't got the spare cash to pay fines because you were too much of a loser to describe it legitimately, even after you were educated on it by the members here.

Yes - the testing guys do enforce the LAMS rules. They check your bike for WOF, rego, all lights, L plate etc.

If somebody at an insurance company or SCU get to see it you are in for a world of hurt.

Looks like SimonC is basing his price on the Australian market for these RVFs as they seem to be selling over there for a pretty penny.
I know good ones are hard to come by, but $8.5K ? i have a mint original one never been alterered in anyway and would be over the moon to get what he is asking, but this is NZ and the market is not here for that sort of money Yet, if ever.
Bikes just dont seem to be selling well in NZ here now, is it because bike regos are still far to high, and car regos have dropped hugely making it more viable, for people to get into the car market, my guess it is.

I'm old ... and the licensing rules have changed over the years.

But I DO know that on many occasions ... friends have mine have taken a motorcycle for a WOF. Without a license class held for that bike.


NO issues ... they test the vehicle (THAT .. is their job) ... not the rider.

There's some confused dealers in the UK advertising them as "rare" and asking 10K UKP for them. I say confused as they're clearly pistaking them for an RC30. Can buy MINT ones over there for about 2K UKP / 4K NZD.
